What: The Nutcracker – a Musical
When: December 17-19, 7pm and December 19 at 1pm
Where: Inlet Theatre, Port Moody
The skinny: This adorable story of a little girl, Clara, who gets a nutcracker from her magical godfather, is about a journey of dreams. From fighting the Mouse King to a journey to Candy Land, this musical goes beyond ballet into the imagination of a child at a magical time of year.

What: CP Holiday Train in Port Moody and Port Coquitlam
When: Saturday, December 19th. 4:50pm in Port Moody, 6:30pm in Port Coquitlam
Where: Port Moody and Poco Recreation Complexes
The skinny: The CP Holiday Train ends their journey across Canada in the Tri-Cities on Saturday. Performers Jim Cuddy, Devin Cuddy and Kelly Prescott will perform in both communities. Our rundown of all the fun is in our post earlier this week.

What: Christmas Tea on the Train
When: Sunday, December 20, 10am
Where: Port Moody Station Museum
The skinny: Once again, The Port Moody Station Museum hosts its Annual Holiday Tea on the Train. On Sunday, December 20th family and friends are invited to enjoy tea, hot chocolate and treats (and crafts for the kids!) aboard our 1921 railcar, the Venosta. Restored in 1987 with assistance from the West Coast Railway Association, the Venosta features two sleeping compartments and a ladies’ powder room with accessories from the 1920s.

What: Winter Solstice Lantern Festival
When: Sunday, December 20, 4pm
Where: Pioneer Memorial Park, 100 Newport Drive, Port Moody
The skinny: Come craft your lanterns, listen to local musicians, join the drum circle and walk the Crossroads Hospice Labrynth with your lantern to celebrate the longest day of the year. This a time for celebration, intention setting for the coming year, and connection with family and friends.

What: Jingle Bells Night @ Lafarge Lake
When: Monday, December 21, 7pm
Where: Lafarge Lake, Coquitlam
The skinny: Join us at the plaza between the Innovation Centre and the Evergreen Cultural Centre. We will be singing carols for approximately 20 minutes, and then it’s a great opportunity for families to explore the lights display at Lafarge Lake. We will have free hot chocolate on hand, and will be giving away jingle bells to the first 200 people. Dress appropriately for the weather and festively for the season! Wear a Santa hat or an ugly sweater!

What: Celebrate the Season at Port Moody Library
When: Tuesday, December 22, 6:30pm
Where: Inlet Theatre, Port Moody
The skinny: The stockings are hung, the shopping and baking are all done (for some of us)…it’s time to Celebrate the Season with your friends and neighbours at the Port Moody Public Library! Join us at the Inlet Theatre for singalong family favourite carols, holiday stories on the big screen, and a visit with a very special guest. All ages, from babies through grandparents, are welcome at this free family event. No registration is required, but remember to bring your camera and a non-perishable food item for the local food banks.
