The Port Moody Station Museum is celebrating the season with two upcoming events. Here are the details!
A Christmas Truce 1914
The Expect Exceptional Theatre Company will be performing A Christmas Truce 1914 on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Port Moody Station Museum. Light refreshments will be put out after the 2:00 show for your enjoyment.
The show tells the story of Christmas 101 years ago, when thousands of soldiers put down their rifles, stepped out of their trenches and spent the holiday mingling with their enemies along the Western front. It was a rare moment of peace. What actually happened on Christmas Eve and Christmas day of 1914? This vocal tribute will commemorate the spontaneous Christmas truce of 1914 as you hear of what it was like for these young soldiers.
And you know what’s even better? The event is free. Please RSVP by calling 604.939.1648.
Holiday Tea on the Train
Once again, The Port Moody Station Museum hosts its Annual Holiday Tea on the Train. On Sunday, December 20, 2015 family and friends are invited to enjoy tea, hot chocolate and treats aboard the 1921 railcar, the Venosta. Restored in 1987 with assistance from the West Coast Railway Association, the Venosta features two sleeping compartments and a ladies’ powder room with accessories from the 1920s.
During the holiday tea you can climb aboard the Venosta and listen to Christmas music playing in the background while you enjoy tea and treats served with a smile. Plus, there will be lots of crafts for the kids to enjoy while they sip on their hot chocolate.
“The Holiday Tea has been a seasonal tradition at the museum for many years. It is a great opportunity for generations of family members to get together without the hubbub of holiday shopping.” says Museum Manager Jim Millar.
The cost of the Holiday Tea is $10 per adult and $5 per kid, which includes admission to the museum. Reservations are required. Make sure to reserve your table by calling 604.939.1648, because they book up fast!
