What:  All Canadian Wine and Cheese Experience
When:  Wednesday, November 18, 7pm
Where:  Gallery Bistro, Port Moody
The skinny:  Join Gavin and Shana Miller from Upper Bench Winery and Creamery during this rare opportunity to sample and chat about the amazing wines and cheeses hand crafted at their Naramata Bench location. The cheeses being featured are not available in the Lower Mainland due to a limited amount produced, however will be available for purchase at this event only. Tickets are $45 each + GST.

What:  Port Moody Heritage Society presents The Call Went Out
When:  Thursday, November 19, 3pm and 7pm
Where:  Port Moody Station Museum
The skinny:  The Call Went Out, is a theatre piece based on letters from BC soldiers sent to loved ones at the beginning of World War 1 and uses slides and music from the period to portray their reflections on the early years of the war. Two shows at 3pm and 7pm. A free event, limited spots available.

What:  Jayme Stone’s Lomax Project
When:  Thursday, November 19, 8pm
Where:  Evergreen Cultural Centre
The skinny:  Focusing on songs collected by folklorist and field recording pioneer Alan Lomax, this unique project, conceived and helmed by banjo virtuoso Jayme Stone, brings together some of North America’s most distinctive and creative roots musicians to revive and re-imagine traditional music.

What:  Port Moody Sports Day in Canada
When:  Saturday, November 21, 9am – 12pm
Where:  Port Moody Rec Centre
The skinny:  RBC Sports Day in Canada is a celebration of the power of sport to build community and get Canadians moving. There are 3 free events taking place.

  • Family Sports Day, 9am to 12pm in the Gymnasium. For ages 5+. Compete in family friendy activities, win prizes, and have fun
  • Fitness Challenge, 9am to 10:15am in the Aerobics Studio. For ages 13+. Compete in a fitness circut challenge.
  • Moody Mudder, 10am-12pm at the Fire Hall. For ages 13+. The course will feature obstacles that incorporate fire and police physical standards as well as bootcamp inspired challenges. You must register online.

What:  Light the Hall
When:  Saturday, November 21, 2pm – 5pm
Where:  Coquitlam City Hall
The skinny:  Get into the holiday spirit with this free, fun-filled family event as we light up City Hall and seasonal light display at 6pm. Have a free picture taken with Santa or experience the magic inside the giant snow globe. We’ll get you into the festive spirit with music, activities, crafts, cookies and hot chocolate.

What:  Crossroads Hospice Treasures of Christmas
When:  Saturday, November 21, 6pm
Where:  Hard Rock Casino Vancouver
The skinny:  Treasures of Christmas is Crossroad’s signature fundraising event that includes a breathtaking mix of magical giving trees, a delicious Christmas buffet with wine, exciting live entertainment, extensive silent auction, dazzling live auction,complimentary valet parking plus a few surprises.

What:  Terry Fox Music Trivia Night
When:  Saturday, November 21, 6:15pm
Where:  Terry Fox Secondary School, Port Coquitlam
The skinny:  A fundraiser for the Terry Fox Music Department and its extracurricular trips and endeavours, is an excellent social opportunity that guarantees hours of fun and excitement. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m, and the night starts at 7:00pm with over 400 adults from the local community vying for ‘Trivia Supremacy’ amongst 48 other teams. Tickets $20

When:  Tuesday, November 24, 11:30am – 2:00pm
Where:  Evergreen Cultural Centre
