What:  Poco Fire Relief FIRED Fired Up! Fundraiser
When:  Wednesday, October 7th. 5:30pm.
Where:  The Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre, 2616 Shaughnessy St, Port Coquitlam
The skinny:  The Giggle Dam will be hosting the Poco Fire Relief FIRED Fired Up! FundraiserUP Fundraiser. Enjoy dinner and a Giggle Dam show. All proceeds from the event will go toward the re-establishment of the businesses lost in the fire. Cost: $75+GST

What:  Place des Arts October Exhibitions Opening Reception
When:  Friday, October 9th. 7-9pm.
Where:  Place des Arts, 1120 Brunette Avenue, Coquitlam
The skinny:  Fine art, inspiration and a glass of wine . . . . Drop by the opening reception for three new shows: The Juried Art Exhibition, works in various media by the Fraser Valley Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists; Moments of Love, photography by Sensors group; Scrapyard Chronicles, mixed media works by Vanessa Lam. Free admission. All three exhibitions will be on display from October 9 – November 7, 2015.

What:  Film Night – Nightcrawler
When:  Friday, October 9th. 7:30pm
Where:  Inlet Theatre, 100 Newport Dr, Port Moody
The skinny:  NIGHTCRAWLER is a thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. But Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story. From the producers of Drive. Admission at the door. Presented by the Port Moody Film Society.

What:  Star Wars Read Day
When:  Saturday, October 10th. 11am-3pm
Where:  Port Moody Public Library
The skinny:  Calling all Jedi Knights and Padawans! Drop in for an afternoon of Star Wars crafts, games, and giveaways. First launched in 2012, Star Wars Reads Day is an international event that encourages reading and celebrates the hundreds of books that have been published about the Star Wars universe.

What:  Westminster Savings Family Day: My Town, Our Town
When:  Saturday, October 10th. 1pm – 4pm
Where:  Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam
The skinny:  Get inspired by the buildings of Dominion city that populate the gallery to create a building of your own. What will your family’s building look like? what will happen in your family’s? building? what will your family’s building say about your real or imagined city? All Family Days are drop in and by donation. No pre-registration required.

What:  Rockaburley Fundraiser
When:  Saturday, October 10th. 8pm – 11pm
Where:  Rocky Point Taphouse, 2524 St Johns St, Port Moody
The skinny:  An evening of Rockabilly and Burlesque that’s sure to get your blood pumpin’ and the dance floor jumpin’. We’re excited to have such an amazing lineup of talent join us to raise funds for our little pal “Seanny The Cancer Warrior.” Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Pinball Alley Vintage or at Rocky Point Taphouse.
