Pre-Remembrance Day Events in Coquitlam

Remembrance Day 2013 Port Moody Coquitlam Port Coquitlam

Halloween isn’t even here yet, but Remembrance Day is hot on its heels. We’ll have a post in the weeks ahead detailing official Remembrance Day events here in the Tri-Cities. Today, though, we wanted to highlight two pre-Remembrance Day events coming up in Coquitlam.

Lest We Forget Workshop

On Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:00pm Coquitlam’s City Archivist is leading a special event at the City Centre Branch of the Coquitlam Public Library. Participants will explore the experiences of Canadian soldiers during the First World War by learning how to locate and interpret archival military service files. Registration is limited to just 15 participants, so if you’re interested you’ll want to reserve your spot today. To secure your space call 604.937.4155.

Coquitlam Remembers

From November 5 to 10, 2015 local residents are invited to honour those who have served our country by painting poppies and writing messages of remembrance. Stop by one of the poppy painting locations (listed below) to paint your own poppy to add to the display. You can also participate by writing a message of remembrance on yellow ribbons to be tied on trees in Blue Mountain Park. These ribbons will be kept up until Sunday, November 18, 2015 then they will be transcribed and forwarded to a Canadian Veterans Group.
