Halloween is just a week and a half today. Today we’re sharing spooky celebrations you’ll want to check out in the run-up to the big day. Round up the kids, put on your costumes, and get ready for some spooktacular fun.

Art Knapp Funland

We are big fans of Art Knapp Funland, because our kids love it so much. It’s open daily until November 1, 2015. Funland is held in Art Knapp’s covered outdoor area at the back of the store, and it’s packed with kid-friendly fun. There are free activities, and you can also buy tickets to participate in the pumpkin patch train, rides and entertainment. Braver souls can check out the haunted tunnel ride. Halloween Haunted House

The whole family will want stop by Vickie Ayers’ annual Halloween Haunted House for Variety the Children’s Charity nightly until October 31, 2015. It’s open between 6:30 and 9:00pm, rain or shine. This annual event features lots of fun for the kids with candy handouts, interactive toys, scary music, dancing lights, smoke machines, pumpkin patch and graveyards galore. Bring your bottles and cans for her year-long bottle drive. This is a great way to have a little fun and support a good cause at the same time. Vickie’s house is at 443 Draycott Street in Coquitlam. Heritage Ghost Walk

Join the good folks at the Coquitlam Heritage Society for a ghost walk. The Canadian Paranormal Society will take you on a paranormal journey. Halloween Howl

On Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 1:00 to 6:00pm Hyde Creek Recreation Centre in Port Coquitlam will host a trio of spooky events. The Spooky Swim runs from 1:00-3:00pm, and admission is $2 per person. From 3:00-5:00pm you can enjoy carnival games for $3. And from 3:00-6:00pm take in the Haunted House for $1. Preschool Haunted Howlawe’en

On Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 5:30–7:30pm kids aged one to five should be prepared for creepy arts and crafts, spooky activities and a ghoulicious dinner. The event will be held at Poirier Community Centre in Coquitlam and costs $6/person. All family members who will be attending must register. Parent participation is mandatory. Halloween Whodunit

Kids aged eight to twelve can get into the Halloween spirit with a comical mystery at Poirier Community Centre in Coquitlam on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 6:00–9:00pm. Kids will act out Halloween characters while trying to solve a mystery. Pizza making will be included for dinner. The cost to participate is $20. Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs & Stories

Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs & Stories is an annual favourite, and it happens every year at Place des Arts in Coquitlam. Local music teacher, children’s entertainer and Place des Arts’ faculty member Yurgen Ilaender, affectionately known as “Mr. I,” will lead Hallowe’en fun for young children ages two and up on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 3:00–3:50pm. This annual Hallowe’en concert never fails to enchant youngsters and their parents. Costumes are welcome and audience participation is encouraged. Halloween at the Landing Youth Centre

Youth aged 11 to 18 are invited to a free event at Pinetree Community Centre in Coquitlam. From 6:00-9:00pm on Saturday, October 31, 2015 there will be pumpkin carving, a shameful amount of candy, and horror movies with youth staff. Are you in? For more information call 604.927.4386.

Big Screen Big Scream

Teens aged 14–18 can take in another free Halloween event at the Centennial Pavilion/The Getaway Youth Centre in Coquitlam. From 6:00-9:00pm on Saturday, October 31, 2015 you can enjoy a Halloween movie marathon and candy hunt just for you and your friends. For more information call 604.927.4386.

Halloween Dinner and Dance

Grown-ups aged 19 plus can enjoy some fun of their own on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 6:30-11:00pm. Candace Zanini hosts a Halloween-themed evening of good music and good eats for couples or singles. Ballroom, Latin, line-dancing, you choose! Light buffet dinner served. Cash bar on site. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory. The event will be held at Glen Pine Pavilion in Coquitlam, and tickets are $32.75 each.
