The skinny:  Come learn about programs and services offered to residents by the City of Coquitlam and find out how to get involved in your community.

What:  National Senior Day Tea
When:  Thursday, October 1st from 2 – 3pm
Where:  Wilson Centre, Port Coquitlam
The skinny:  Join us to celebrate Canada’s National Seniors’ Day on October 1. Drop in enjoy some goodies and refreshments. There will be entertainment. Wilson Centre members are free. Registration is required.

What:  Air Supply

The skinny:  Soft rock duo Air Supply will be taking centre stage at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. You know you can sing along to “I’m All out of Love”.

What:  So You Want to Write a Harlequin Romance?
When:  Saturday, October 3rd. 2:00 – 4:30pm
Where:  Terry Fox Library, Port Coquitlam
The skinny:  This workshop, sponsored by Tri-City Wordsmiths, and presented by author and freelance editor Lee McKenzie, will cover the general elements of romance writing, as well as delve into the various types of romance within the genre. In addition to her nine romance novels, Lee McKenzie has written advertising copy, magazine articles, and even an honours thesis in paleontology!

When:  Sunday, October 4th from 8:00am to 12:00pm
Where:  Town Centre Firehall, Coquitlam
The skinny:  Who doesn’t love pancakes? The Coquitlam Firefighters are raising money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. And there’s going to be a pink fire truck.

What:  Mundy Park Record-setting Weed Pull
When:  Sunday, October 4th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and Monday, October 5th from 9:00am – 12:00pm
Where:  Hillcrest Parking Lot, Mundy Park, Coquitlam

Where:  Ioco Road and 1st Avenue, Port Moody ( Lawn Bowling Green)
The skinny:  Come join us for this free family event at the former Ioco Lawn Bowling Green (Ioco Rd. & 1st Ave. in Port Moody). Enjoy good old fashioned fun while learning about the heritage of the former Ioco town.
