CP Women's Open 2015 Coquitlam

What: Canadian Pacific Women’s Open
When: Monday, August 17 to Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 8:00am to 6:00pm
Where: The Vancouver Golf Club, Coquitlam
The skinny: It’s going to be an exciting week of golf in Coquitlam! Canadian Pacific and Golf Canada are proud to present the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open at The Vancouver Golf Club. The women of the LPGA Tour, 156 players, will compete for a prize purse of $2.25 million USD.

What: United Way Avenues of Change Family Picnic
When: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00pm
Where: Wellington Park, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: Connect with your neighbours and join the celebration. Adopt-a-Spot information, free children’s activities, community tree decorating, storytelling and family potluck picnic. They provide the main course, bring your family favourite dish or just bring your family, chairs, your own plates and utensils. At 6:00pm there will be celebratory cake!

What: Sandcastle Competition
When: Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30am
Where: Blue Mountain Park, Coquitlam
The skinny: Bring your pails and shovels and come join us in a sandcastle competition at Blue Mountain Park’s Pop-Up Beach. Judging will begin at 11:30am and the winning entry will receive a Coquitlam in Bloom prize pack. All entries will have the chance to win a $25.00 Canadian Tire gift card.

What: Neighbourhood Night
When: Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm
Where: Bramblewood Elementary, Coquitlam
The skinny: You’re invited to Neighbourhood Night, a free community block party at Bramblewood Elementary. Bring your family, meet your neighbours and enjoy a beautiful evening the park with family friendly games, kids’ activities and refreshments. This event is weather dependent.

What: Exhibition Opening Reception
When: Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00pm
Where: Leigh Square Community Arts Village, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: Featuring Colors of Dream by Judith Fairwood and Venus Soberanes. The exhibition mixes two colors of dream — one vibrant and the other calm. The act of dreaming transcends physical borders and materializes into painted dreamscapes. Out of unique views of the world, Judith Fairwood and Venus Soberanes juxtapose imaginary landscapes and personal experiences of perceived worlds and different states of consciousness. It is an exotic journey of a lucid dream where the viewers can be part of the portrayed landscapes and participate from the dreamed experience in a collective dream.

What: Open Mic Night at Inspiration Garden
When: Friday, August 21, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00pm
Where: Inspiration Garden, Coquitlam
The skinny: Coquitlam’s Inspiration Garden will be transformed into a live performance venue! The City’s Spark Park team will be hosting an open mic night, to allow the community to engage, connect, and share with their neighbours. Currently, the City is looking for performers. Musicians, singers, storytellers, amateur comedians – everyone is welcome! This is a free family friendly event. What: Port Moody Wave Festival
When: Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00pm
Where: Rocky Point Park, Port Moody
The skinny: The Wave Festival is an outdoor music festival held at the PCT performance stage in Rocky Point Park. The afternoon will feature multiple local artists all varying in genre and style.

What: MEC Vancouver Summer Century Ride
When: Sunday, August 23, 2015 starting at 8:00am
Where: Pinetree Community Centre, Coquitlam
The skinny: MEC Vancouver is hosting its second of two Summer Century Rides touring the beautiful Lower Mainland. For only $35 you can choose between a 50km or 100km ride that will take you through Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam to the scenic country side of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. The ride will be an open road loop starting and ending at the Pinetree Community Center. And MEC Vancouver will be providing free drinks and snacks for all participants before and after the ride.

What: Bike and Yoga
When: Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30am
Where: Glenayre Community Centre, Port Moody
The skinny: Come learn new skills and have fun on this intermediate mountain bike trail ride. Following the ride, a yoga class specially adapted for cyclists will leave you feeling energized. Don’t forget your mat! Cost is $25 per person and registration is required.

What: Heritage Tree Tour

The skinny: Walks last about two hours, depending on weather and walkers’ preference. Dress for the weather, and wear comfy shoes or boots. Children are always welcome. Dogs must be on ‘leash’.
