The Incompleat Folksinger

September 22-26, 2015

This musical is written by Pete Seeger and adapted for the stage by Ross Desprez and Mark Hellman. It is a one-man show that premiered in Victoria this January and had people singing along throughout the performance. The stories and commentary are entirely based on Pete Seeger’s own words from his book The Incompleat Folksinger, and the many songs are his favourites that became synonymous with Pete Seeger as a performer.

Red Rock Diner

October 27-31, 2015

This musical by Dean Regan comes from the Arts Club Theatre Company. Five teens come of age while DJ Red Robinson plays the biggest hits of the time – from the raucous “Great Balls of Fire” and “Jailhouse Rock” to ballads like “Diana” and “Crying”. This infectious musical captures the excitement and innocence of the city’s burgeoning rock ‘n’ roll scene.

Til Death & No Tweed Too Tight

February 25-27, 2016

This comedy by Ryan Gladstone with Bruce Horak is part of the Indie Series and comes from Monster Theatre. It’s two blockbuster fringe hits in one side-splitting evening of thrills! Til Death opens in the afterlife, in a bizarre waiting room where the wives of Henry VIII arrive – much to the shock and dismay of each previous wife! In No Tweed Too Tight: Another Grant Canyon Mystery, Grant Canyon is a perpetually inebriated insurance investigator. Follow his adventures on board an airplane with no pilots, a Russian sub and even getting buried alive!

Late Company

March 29-April 2, 2016

This drama by Jordan Tannahill comes from Touchstone Theatre. One year after a tragedy, two couples sit down to dinner. Far from finding the closure they seek, the dinner strips bare their good intentions to reveal the layers of hypocrisy beneath. From one of Canada’s most promising playwrights and winner of the 2014 Governor General’s Award for Drama comes this exploration of justice, cyber-bullying and parenthood in the 21st century.

Motherload

May 9-14, 2016

This comedy comes from the Motherload Collective. An intimate account of parenting in the modern age, four real-life mothers bare their personal stories about what it takes to be a member of the world’s biggest club. Drawing on candid playground conversations and parent-friendly coffee shop confessions, the moms take on isolation, “competitive mommying” and, of course, poop. Sharing their stories of the beautiful and sometimes brutal metamorphosis into parenthood, Motherload hopes to lighten the collective load!
