What’s Cooking at the Coquitlam Foundation

Coquitlam Foundation Executive Jill Cook

There are changes afoot at the Coquitlam Foundation. They have a newly hired executive director, Jill Cook, who will begin her job on August 1, 2015. When she starts she will be joining three recently appointed board members at the helm of the charitable organization.

Cook, who replaces Dale Clarke, comes to the foundation with a wealth of experience, having been executive director of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce (2006-2009), the Coquitlam Heritage Society (2009-2014), and the Crossroads Hospice Society.

“We are extremely pleased to have Jill join us as we gear up for another big year of community philanthropy,” says Janet Toddington, chair of the foundation’s board of directors. During the past year, the foundation distributed more than $142,000 in grants, bursaries and scholarships.

The foundation’s respect for Cook is matched by her admiration of it. “The foundation is an outstanding organization, well-recognized for its efforts and contributions to strengthen our community,” she says. “I look forward to the opportunity of being a part of its continued success.”

Also new to the foundation are directors Justin Kim, Justina Mark and Madhavee Inamdar, replacing Sam Nakai, Bob Tanaka, and Julie Fisher. Kim, who runs an IT consulting firm, is the new board secretary; Mark, a Chartered Professional Accountant, is the new treasurer; Inamdar, a program advisor with B.C.’s Ministry of International Trade, will chair the foundation’s new multicultural committee.

The foundation will conduct its AGM at 7:00pm on September 10, 2015 in the Coquitlam Foundation Room of the Town Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library. As well, the foundation is holding its second annual Kickin’ It Country fundraiser on November 14, 2015 at the Dogwood Pavilion. All proceeds from the fundraiser will support the foundation’s operations and charitable endeavours. For more information, you can email info@coquitlamfoundation.com.
