Evergreen Night at the Museum Coquitlam

What: Hansel and Gretel the Musical
When: Wednesday, July 29 to Friday, July 31, 2015
Where: Various Locations in Coquitlam
The skinny: Six talented teens, five of whom are Coquitlam residents, will sing and act their way through a musical adaptation of Hansel and Gretel led by professional director James MacDonald. The troupe will perform a total of 10 times, eight of which are free and open to the public.

What: Community Policing Grand Reopening
When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 3:30 to 6:00pm
Where: 2581 Mary Hill Road, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: The event includes a distracted driving obstacle course, free giveaway items, children’s activities, senior safety info, bicycle engraving for anti-theft, refreshments and a lot more!

What: Theory of a Deadman
When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 8:00pm
Where: Hard Rock Casino, Coquitlam
The skinny: Formed in North Delta, Theory of a Deadman made a name for themselves after becoming the first band to sign with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records in 2001. The following year, they released their debut eponymous album which featured the hit single, “Make Up Your Mind”. Their next album, Gasoline was released in 2005 and spawned the chart-topping single, “No Surprise” which peaked at #1 in Canada and reached #8 in the US.

What: Summer Night at the Museum
When: Friday, July 31, 2015 at 7:00pm
Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam
The skinny: Summer Night at the Museum is an original show with a cast of fun characters written specially for the participants, from the writer/director of The Bullying Games. During a school trip to the museum a small group of students find themselves locked in the museum for the night. The adventure that awaits them is only limited by their imagination!

What: Tri-City Wordsmiths
When: Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:30pm
Where: Terry Fox Library, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: “Children’s Writing: Twelve Steps For Plotting Their Stories” will be the topic presented by guest speaker Pandora Ballard, Writer and Publicist and founding member of Tri-City Wordsmiths. Learn the definition of plotting, how children’s writing differs from adult writing, how to get started with planning your children’s story, and suggestions for markets. The meeting is free, but registration is appreciated.

What: Ventriloquist Kellie Haines

The skinny: Ventriloquist Kellie Haines started talking to her stuffed animals at an early age, and when she was eight years old, they started talking back! A multitalented entertainer with a background in theatre, clowning, singing and dance, Kellie wows audiences of all ages! Build your imagination with talking birds and singing frogs as Kellie and her friends guide you on a hilarious adventure.
