What: Little League 2015 Canadian Senior Championships
When: Wednesday, July 22 to Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 9:00am to 9:00pm
Where: Blue Mountain Park, Coquitlam
The skinny: Play Ball! Coquitlam Little League is proud to be hosting the 2015 Senior League Canadian Championships. This is the 5th national championship Coquitlam has hosted in their 60 year history. There will be 7 teams of 15 and 16 year olds from across Canada, including Coquitlam’s Little League Senior A’s, who will compete for the right to represent Canada at the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine. A year of preparation has gone into making this a week of baseball that will create a lifetime of memories for everyone involved. Bring the whole family! The younger children can play in the waterpark or at the playground nearby.

What: Opening Reception
When: Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm
Where: Port Moody Arts Centre
The skinny: Admission is free. Artists in attendance and refreshments will be served. Double Life features the work of a group of 6 individuals who share a deep personal creative compulsion: to paint and create their individual bodies of work in a variety of styles, sizes and subject matter. Dave, an Unexpected Tale, created by the Art Centre’s Ceramic Artist in Residence, Otto Kamensek, tells the story of Dave, a young man who does not know he has inflammatory arthritis yet, but will have to deal with the social and psychological aspects of living with a chronic illness.

What: The Hundred Foot Journey

What: Kwikwetlem All Nations Festival
When: Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25, 2015
Where: Town Centre Park, Coquitlam
The skinny: The All Nations Festival is a three day long celebration of Coast Salish culture, art, language and identity. This annual festival aims to celebrate Coast Salish cultural resurgence by bringing together the visual and performing arts, music, food, sports and ideas honouring our shared culture.There will be free outdoor music stage starting Friday, July 24 at 5:00pm. On July 25 from 12:00–9:00pm enjoy a music festival, with skateboard park DJs, lacrosse showcase, artisans and lots of food options at the concessions. The festival includes the two day Kwikwetlem Colloqulum, a George Leach concert (Thursday night) a reading by Lee Maracle (Friday night) and an environmental roundtable open to the public Friday.

What: Reading Campout
When: Friday, July 24, 2015 from 11:00am to 2:00pm
Where: Port Moody Public Library
The skinny: Camp out on the lawn in one of the shady tents or make your own fort. Page through books, magazines, or comics, then enjoy fun games and activities for all ages. Drop in anytime during this event.

What: BFL 37
When: Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 5:30pm
Where: Hard Rock Casino, Coquitlam
The skinny: Battlefield Fight League returns with BFL 37 – Live! from the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. This event features to World Title fights, with the Main Event featuring Featherweight Champion Jeremy Kennedy (7-0) defending against Kyle Nelson (5-0). The Co-Main Event features Ryan Janes defending his World Middleweight Title against Brendan Kornberger. Witness the action live on Fight Network.

What: Newport Village Summer Fest
When: Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 11:00am to 4:00pm
Where: Newport Village, Port Moody
The skinny: Enjoy a Show & Shine, live music, kids crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, delicious food, prizes and a whole lot more. Festival activities are by donation, in support of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

What: Science World on the Road
When: Monday, July 27, 2015 from 2:00 to 2:45pm
Where: Terry Fox Library, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: Science World On The Road presents spectacular and engaging science demonstrations with lots of audience interaction. Family audiences will witness and explore topics like air pressure, electricity, chemistry, and motion. Chickens may fly, marshmallows may erupt and you may even have a chance to come on stage and help our presenters with an experiment.

What: Hansel and Gretel the Musical
When: Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, 2015
Where: Various Locations in Coquitlam
The skinny: Six talented teens, five of whom are Coquitlam residents, will sing and act their way through a musical adaptation of Hansel and Gretel led by professional director James MacDonald. The troupe will perform a total of 10 times, eight of which are free and open to the public.

What: Multicultural Fair
When: Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 11:00am to 2:00pm
Where: Glen Pine Pavilion, Coquitlam
The skinny: Spend the afternoon enjoying a variety of multicultural music, dance and live entertainment. Many cultures will be represented with performances from Chinese, Persian, Highland Dancing and Korean groups. There will be door prizes and activities for kids as well as adults. The whole family is sure to be entertained. BBQ, food and summer treats will be available for purchase.

What: Kids World Special Event

What: Outdoor Concert
When: Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00pm
Where: Centennial Rose Garden, Dogwood Pavilion, Coquitlam
The skinny: Coquitlam’s Centennial Rose Garden will host “Caviar and Lace” as part of the Performance on the Patio series. Their song list is reminiscent of years gone by and brings those eras to life once again. There will be flower and garden themed songs from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s including Days of Wine and Roses, Summertime, Fly Me to the Moon, Over the Rainbow and The Rose. The event is open to those 19+ years. Light refreshments will be served at intermission. The concert will be indoors if the weather does not cooperate.
