Music Tri-Cities 2015

With summer really getting underway we’re all ready to head outside – and that includes musicians and performing artists. If the idea of setting up your blanket in a local park, unpacking an picnic lunch and listening to some great music sounds like your idea of a great time, we have some events for you. This summer in the Tri-Cities you’ll find a number of all ages FREE outdoor concerts. In particular, check out Village Vibe and Music in the Park in Port Coquitlam, and Summer Sundays in Port Moody. Here’s the scoop on what’s in store.

Village Vibe

Every Saturday afternoon in July and August, the outdoor stage at Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam will be taken over by Village Vibe from 2:00-4:00pm. The 2015 Village Vibe series will feature emerging dancers for the month of July and emerging musicians for the month of August. Village Vibe provides an opportunity for local artists to gain experience in front of a live audience and celebrate their talents. Performances run rain or shine. Here’s what’s on the agenda:

Robyn & Ryleigh / Bridgeworks
Sisters Robyn and Ryleigh Gillespie are a country/pop duo hailing from Langley. Their video from their previous indie album played on The TNN/Heartland Network in the U.S. and they’ve been nominated for two BC Country Music Awards. Bridgeworks is an acoustic post-folk duo from Port Coquitlam. Consisting of Michael Kragelj and Dylan Leonard, the two present memorable melodies with a progressive backbone.

Shades Of Green / Paper Moon
Shades Of Green are an emerging band that was formed in late 2013. The quartet’s repertoire includes a wide variety of Folk, Bluegrass, Americana and Popular music in addition to Irish selections. Paper Moon is a male/female duo Influenced by love and music from a simpler time. Tammy and Rob have been playing together for six years but really joined forces when they became a couple two years ago.

Mistral Storm / Gina Williams
Mistral Storm is a new genre of music called art rock. It uses a violin with guitar effects, soulful drumming and bass, and synth with a vocalist whose talents have been compared to Bono and Adele. Gina Williams is an Award Winning Multi Genre Performing Artist who continues to perform pop, rock, R & B, classical and gospel music nationally and internationally.

Chico and Tim / Greg Norlin
Chico and Tim have been teaching Guitar and entertaining Vancouver music lovers for several decades. Incorporating a huge selection of jazz standards, blues, pop, rock and country, they create guitar duets of stunning virtuosity. Greg Norlin recently moved back to PoCo with his family and is loving it here. He’ll be performing original songs as well as some familiar pop/rock favourites.

Karen Fowlie / KP Duty
Delivering a solid show of original country-rock songs, Karen’s voice might remind you of Neko Case’s sultry lows mixed with Carrie Underwood’s high ringing tones. Karyn McLaurin’s clear voice and sweet harmonies catches your ear and puts a smile on your face and Paul Shuley’s enthusiasm for music is infectious and you never know what song he will pull out and take for a spin. Together they are KP Duty.

Music in the Park

Port Coquitlam also has free music in every Sunday in July and August from 2:00-4:00pm. July Events will take place in the Leigh Square Bandshell, and August events will take place in Lions Park (except August 23, or in case of rain). Here’s what’s on the agenda:
