La Boutique Consignment Clothes Shop

La Boutique Consignment Clothes Store Port Moody

Eco-chic is alive and kicking in the Tri Cities; stores like Value Village, SHARE and the Crossroads Hospice Shop making thrift shopping fun and convenient. But what happens if you want a little more glamour and style along with your environmentally-aware clothes choices? Ladies, and gentlemen too (see below) – I highly recommend visiting La Boutique Consignment on St. Johns Street in Port Moody, and making it a regular stop on your shopping travels.

This fun and vibrant new-to-you clothing store carries all styles from casual to formal, in a tidy, stylish shop setting. The space is uncluttered and laid out like a classy boutique. The clothes are grouped into categories – tops, bottoms, skirts, jackets, coats and so on–with size markers to guide you while browsing. Feature outfits display temptingly in the shop window and around the store, inspiring wardrobe choices and pushing gently to try something new. That’s part of the fun of consignment shopping – oftentimes you’re looking at choices you would never have considered, and usually with pleasing results. Go on – be daring and try something new!

When you’ve made your selection, try the pieces on for size in the roomy changing area, then check out your new look in the mirror. At my recent visit, I came away happy with a stylish pair of slim olive green Esprit jodhpurs for the summer – hardly worn, and just right for dressing up with strappy sandals or mooching about in the park in summer flats. And for a fraction of the full retail price.

La Boutique Consignment carries a great selection of shoes, purses, bags and jewelry in addition to clothing in sizes 2 to 22. Previously a Plus Size Consignment store, La Boutique has been in business for over six years, with current owner Barbara Nixon behind the till for the last three. She runs an active Facebook and Instagram presence, announcing in-store events alongside regular updates of incoming stock.

In addition to accepting current women’s styles (up to two years old), this summer Barbara is throwing open her consignment appointments to menswear. Gents – just do what the ladies already do; make an appointment and then bring in your clean, undamaged clothes for Barbara to look over, price and set out on display. Check out the website for full instructions. Menswear will be available for browsing from the end of July.

Still undecided? Why not take a look at La Boutique’s Facebook page and Instagram account, where new additions to the rails make an appearance. Checking in with these pages regularly means you can snap up what is undoubtedly a bargain before another eco-fashionista gets her hands on it.

Here’s to a stylish but affordable summer!
