Summer Reading Clubs for Everyone in Port Moody

Port Moody Library Summer Reading Club 2015

Summer reading clubs for kids are fixtures at public libraries all across the province. Youngsters can get in on the fun this summer at all public libraries in the Tri-Cities. Today, however, we’re highlighting Port Moody in particular, where they’re asking the question: “Why should kids have all the fun?”

Summer Reading for Kids

Kids can read all summer long with Port Moody Public Library’s free Summer Reading Club. Register in person at the library starting June 1, 2015, and pick up a welcome package to kick off a summer of imagination and learning.

School aged kids can read anything, anywhere, then collect weekly stickers and prizes to celebrate their success. Track your progress in a keepsake reading record designed by illustrator and animator Shayne Letain, and find your new favourite book with our expert reading recommendations for all ages and abilities.

Children who complete 50 days of reading will receive a special medal, generously sponsored by the Royal Bank Financial Group at a fun-filled ceremony on August 29, 2015.

Summer Reading Club kids are invited to attend amazing programs at the library. Celebrate the 2015 Build It theme with hands-on Scratch code camps, or explore the animal world with Urban Safari’s lizards, snakes and other exotic animals. Get a personalized book list from our children’s librarians at a Friday Read It! session, or relax at our weekly family movie events in the beautiful Inlet Theatre. From Reading Campouts to fancy dress Wonderland Tea Parties, we’ve got events and activities for all ages and interests this summer. All programs are drop-in and free for Summer Reading Club participants. Space is limited, so arrive early to get a seat.

The Summer Reading Club is co-sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with assistance of the Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education.

Summer Reading for Grown-Ups

Bibliophiles aged 19+ can explore the world through books with the Port Moody Library’s Adult Summer Reading Club. Travel the globe by reading books from at least six regions of the world: your epic journey starts when you sign up, and receive your reading passport.

We’ll keep you reading all summer long with great suggestions for fiction or non-fiction titles that explore international ideas, locations, or themes. You can collect passport stamps for each region explored. At the end of the summer, completed passports can be entered in a fabulous grand prize draw.

As part of the fun, Adult Summer Reading Club participants are invited to enjoy a free viewing of the Hundred-Foot Journey in the air-conditioned Inlet Theatre on July 23, 2015. All this travel is free, begins June 1, 2015 and ends August 31, 2015.
