What: March Exhibitions Opening
When: Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 7:00pm
Where: Place des Arts, Coquitlam
The skinny: Fine art, inspiration and a glass of wine…stop by the opening reception for three new shows: Last Night I Dreamed, oil on canvas by Ann Willsie; Tag, You’re It! mixed media by our Artist in Residence Joy Kirkwood; Waters of Widgeon Creek, acrylic on canvas by Amy Thompson. All three exhibitions will be on display from March 26 to June 6, 2015. Admission is free.

What: An Evening at the Museum – Kucki Low
When: Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 7:00pm
Where: Heritage at Leigh Square, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: It’s an informative evening at Heritage at Leigh Square with Kucki Low, the first female airline pilot in South Africa, 2014 nominee for Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government, Keynote speaker 2011 African Women in Aviation Conference Johannesburg, Speaker 2011 Leadership Development in Aviation Africa Johannesburg, 2014 President Rotary Women’s Association Vancouver.

What: Tri-City Spring 2015 Home Expo
When: Friday, March 27-Sunday, March 29, 2015
Where: Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, Coquitlam
The skinny: The 14th Annual Tri-City Spring Home Show is coming back to the Poirier Sport Complex for the weekend. They have a wide range of exhibitors available to discuss YOUR home projects! Organize your cupboards and closets with one of the closet organizers that will be on display, or add some new kitchen tools with the array of kitchen wares available. What: Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse
When: Friday, March 27, 2015 at 7:30pm
Where: The Gathering Place, Leigh Square, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: The open mic starts at 7:30, and then featured performer, Paper Moon, takes the stage at 9:00pm. Influenced by love and music from a simpler time, Paper Moon performs a unique collection of original and cover music, blending Tammy’s sweet soulful voice and Rob’s rustic blues voice. And they are writing great new tunes, too. Tickets are $5 at the door.

What: Easter Bunny Hop and Hunt
When: Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 10:00am-12:00pm
Where: Glen Pine Pavilion, Coquitlam
The skinny: Join in on an this ‘eggcellent’ Easter event. There will be games, crafts, face painting and an egg hunt to be enjoyed by the whole family. Parent participation required and kids aged 1-12 can participate.

What: Burke Mountain Firehall Opening
When: Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 11:00am-2:00pm
Where: 3501 David Avenue, Coquitlam
The skinny: Join in the official opening of the Burke Mountain Firehall. Parking is limited. If possible, please walk, cycle or carpool. Following the official opening, you’ll be able to tour designated areas of the new facility and enjoy a hot dog grilled on the BBQ by the Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society.

What: Easter Baking Workshop
When: Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 12:30-3:30pm
Where: Mackin House Museum, Coquitlam
The skinny: Sign up for an Easter baking lesson by Ginette of Cakes by Ginette. You’ll come away with new skills and techniques, plus a tasty Italian Easter Braid. Participation is by donation and registration is required. You’ll be partnered up, so sign up with a friend or come alone and be prepared to meet new people.

What: Opening Reception: Spring’s Snow
When: Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00pm
Where: Leigh Square Community Arts Village, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: This is the latest juried exhibition from the Federation of Canadian Artists, Fraser Valley Chapter. This is a juried group show featuring paintings in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, encaustic and various dry mediums.

What: Rock for Kids
When: Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 12:00pm
Where: Giggle Dam Theatre, Port Coquitlam
The skinny: Rock For Kids is a live music marathon supporting Variety – The Children’s Charity. The event features 14 live bands playing for 12 hours. Live auction! Photo booth! Prizes! All in the name of supporting BC’s special kids. Tickets just $25 and include food. All ages welcome.

What: Opening Reception: Look This Way
When: Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 3:00-5:00pm
Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam
The skinny: Drop by for the Opening Reception of Look This Way, the new exhibit in the Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre. The show features selected works from the Artists for Kids Collection at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art. The reception is free and open to the public.
