Enjoy Some Winter Pampering

Spa Pampered Tri-Cities

You wouldn’t know it with the weather we’ve been having, but it’s still winter in the Tri-Cities. With spring in the air, though, many of us are shedding our winter coats and looking forward to warmer days ahead. If you’ve had a stressful winter – and your skin, hair and muscles bear the signs – this is a great time to treat yourself to a little bit of restorative pampering. If you’re wondering where to go for some me-time in the Tri-Cities, here are our top picks.

Cloud 9

For serious relaxation, visit Cloud 9 Float Spa in Coquitlam. Here’s what contributor Lina Kunina had to say: “When your session begins, you are led to the pod of your choosing and the room is devoid of all light. You are given earplugs that will be used to ensure removal of all external sound. The tank itself is filled with about 11” of water of which has over 900 pounds of Epsom salt mixed in. All of these conditions combine to free you from the senses of touch, pressure, and friction, sound and light. This leaves you in an environment of complete peace and quiet.”

Healing Cedar Wellness

If you want a side of wellness with your spa experience, check out Healing Cedar Wellness in Port Moody. Here’s part of my review: “Healing Cedar Wellness is a multidisciplinary clinic that is all about natural health for the whole family. Whether you’re looking for acupuncture, massage therapy, naturopathic medicine, clinical counselling or holistic nutrition, they’ve got you covered. And if you’d like to warm up and sweat out all those toxins … you may want to pay a visit to the infrared sauna.”

il Destino

Our own Amanda Maxwell had this to say about the salon and spa on St. Johns in Port Moody: “Behind the cool and classy street frontage is a peaceful haven away from the bustle of the city’s main thoroughfare … it’s one of my favourite treats in the Tri-Cities. From personal experience, I can highly recommend the Hot Stone Massage and the il Paradiso Body Polish Treatment. Other tempting offerings include facials, manicure and pedicure packages, and even a full-day package of bliss that even includes a spa entrée to keep you energized.”

Pure Nail Bar

Looking to add a little sparkle to your fingers and toes? Pure Nail Bar in Suter Brook is a chain that’s popular for a reason. They offer manicures and pedicures in plush surroundings. When my friend and I had our feet done she brought along food and we sipped and snacked while we spread out on the couch that’s provided. It’s multi-tasking at its finest, and a great treat to enjoy with a friend or family member. A manicure or pedicure is an affordable and quick pick-me-up option, if you could use a little me-time but don’t want to break the bank.

Skoah

The Vancouver-based spa chain offers “personal training for your skin”, and they now have a location in Suter Brook in Port Moody. They offer a range of facials and memberships for regular maintenance, plus skin-care products for men and women. I’ve visited their Metrotown location and found that it was serious pampering that you can fit in over a lunch hour. Bring a friend for some bonding time and pay a visit to Onyx or Chomp after for some bonding time.

Spa Divine

My own visit to Spa Divine in Port Moody was, well, divine. Here’s part of my review: “Unlike most other local spas, this one isn’t combined with a hair salon. This means that the space is much quieter and more relaxed, with fewer people coming through, and no noisy blow dryers. Spa Divine is a place to visit if you want true quiet, and an extremely luxurious experience.”
