ELEVATE Yourself on International Women’s Day

Elevate International Womens Day

International Women’s Day happens every year on March 8. It’s a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. Here in the Tri-Cities the Chamber of Commerce, Barbara Stegemann, Senator Yonah Martin and other notable guests are joining forces to in bring recognition of International Women’s Day to the Lower Mainland with a unique, first-of-its kind local event, ELEVATE.

You may know Barbara Stegemann from CBC’s Dragons’ Den. Her entrepreneurial vision was formed after her best friend a soldier was severely wounded in Afghanistan. Understanding that supporting Afghanistan’s economy was a key to building stability for its people, Stegemann created The 7 Virtues Beauty, a company that sources organic oils from countries experiencing turmoil (such as Afghanistan, Haiti and the Middle East) to encourage change and to reverse the effects of war and poverty. Despite addressing complex global matters in her talks, she uses humour to explain how individuals can effect change both at home and worlds away.

The ELEVATE event promises to help local women understand how to bring their own businesses to a higher level by empowering others. It’s all happening on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam. It kicks off at 6:00pm with a VIP Martini Mixer. At 7:00pm general admission opens with the Marketplace Mixer, and the speakers take to the stage at 7:30pm. Then it winds up at 9:00pm with a book signing and more of the Marketplace Mixer.

Tickets are $40 each, or $65 for a VIP pass. To get yours, or to find out more about the event, visit business.tricitieschamber.com/events/details/international-women-s-day-1642.
