What: City of Coquitlam Concept Plan for Town Centre Outdoor Event and Performance Plaza

The skinny:
The City of Coquitlam is holding an information meeting on the concept plan for the Town Centre Outdoor Event and Performance Plaza. The plaza will support major events and festivals, such as Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day and the Teddy Bear Picnic, as well as performances planned for Coquitlam’s 125 Anniversary celebrations in 2016. This public space would also expand the cultural and recreational program opportunities at Town Centre Park in the heart of the City. The information meeting will provide residents an opportunity to view the initial plaza designs and site location, ask questions of project staff and submit their comments.

Back by popular demand, the Coffee Concerts showcase an exciting line up of professional musicians from across Metro Vancouver at Terry Fox Theatre! On January 29, The Wheat in the Barley pulls together a lot of great influences into one package: Celtic, Slavic, French Canadian, Yiddish, Cajun, funk, blues and more. With an impressive array of instruments at their command and a toe-tapping, high-energy song list, they put on a show that’s as danceable as it is listenable.

The skinny:
The annual Chamber GALA, featuring the Business  Excellence Awards, will be held January 31st, 2015 at the Hard Rock Casino Theatre. Enjoy an evening of excellent food and drink, games, prizes and dancing, and the announcing of the winners of the 14th annual Business Excellence Awards. The evening will begin with a Champagne Reception at 6 pm before moving into the theatre for a formal three course meal, the awards, and evening entertainment.

What: Musical Mornings with Sarah Hagen @ The Evergreen

The skinny: Canadian pianist Sarah Hagen has been heard in concert halls and on the airwaves to critical acclaim throughout North America and Europe. A visionary and idealist, Sarah’s performances are conceptually innovative. Musical Mornings is a series of five salon-type concerts hosted by acclaimed concert pianist and producer Sarah Hagen. The morning begins with coffee, tea, and treats, followed by a seventy-five minute classical concert led by Hagen and featuring world class artists. It’s intimate, it’s casual, it will become one of your favourite morning traditions.
