Crossroads Coffeehouse – Winter and Spring 2015

Crossroads Coffeehouse 2015

The Crossroads Coffeehouse has been raising funds and awareness for the Crossroads Inlet Centre Hospice for well over a decade. The music series is still going strong in the Tri-Cities, offering music in a casual atmosphere focused on acoustical performances from a wide range of musical genres. If you stop by an event at The Gathering Place in Port Coquitlam’s Leigh Square, you’ll find the best coffeehouse live musical experience in the Tri-Cities for a great price – just $5 at the door – making this a great value.plus the added benefit of knowing you’re supporting a good cause.

Each Crossroads Coffeehouse event opens at 7:30pm with an open mic session. Then the main event takes to the stage at 9:00pm. There are a number of upcoming performances this winter and spring that you may want to add to your calendar. Here’s what’s in store:

Mikalva – January 23, 2015

Alva and Mik came to Crossroads a couple of years ago as teenagers just starting a great duo act. Now they are REALLY great and as charming as ever. They’ll take you in all kinds of musical directions with great singing from both and fine licks on guitar from Mik.

Bridgeworks – February 13, 2015

Bridgeworks is an indie acoustic duo from Port Coquitlam, BC with Michael Kragelj and Dylan Leonard, who present memorable melodies with a progressive backbone. With a focus on soaring harmonies and introspective storytelling, the pair play a familiar style of music – but innovative! Fresh out of the studio after recording their debut EP, Bridgeworks is ready to share their songs with the world and step out into the spotlight. HERE!

The Talesmen – February 27, 2015

This is their fourth shift at Crossroads because they are back by very popular demand! An exciting young quintet with three lead instruments and all five guys singing. Band members Devon Kazulin, Jamey Cloete, Kevin Penner, Scott Jorgenson and Matt Savourd perform an eclectic mix of southern rock to roots and blues, and superbly, we might add!

Steve Sainas – March 13, 2015

Steve is an original root-blues guitarist/singer/songwriter who has been performing with his band Mud Dog since 1997. He’ll be going creatively solo here with originals and covers. He’s also Mr. Sainas from Terry Fox Secondary teaching Rock School and Recording since 2001 – many of our younger performers came though his music programs.

Paper Moon – March 27, 2015

Influenced by love and music from a simpler time, Paper Moon performs a unique collection of original and cover music, blending Tammy’s sweet soulful voice and Rob’s rustic blues voice. And they are writing great new tunes, too.

Presents Sons of Ascent – April 10, 2015

Sons of Ascent is four friends: Pascal Bouchard, Dan Kram, Darren Roy, and Paul Surridge who have been entertaining for several years. The band sets Paul Surridge’s lyrics to an eclectic acoustic roots/blues/rock sound. What’s in the name? Its the idea that we are refined by the fire of life experience. Rather than being ruined by it, we can rise up and be something beautiful.

Shades of Green – April 24, 2015

Shades of Green is a diverse group of musicians in BC playing an eclectic blend of Folk, Americana and Irish music, from traditional to contemporary. Whether you’re at Crossroads, relaxing in a pub or dancing in a club, Shades of Green will entertain you!
