2015 Wearable Art Awards

Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam

Back in October we told you about the submission process for the 2015 Wearable Art Awards, presented by the Port Moody Arts Centre. Well, the submissions have all been presented and reviewed, and now final preparations for the event are underway. The performance is happening over two evenings on February 21 and 22, 2015, at Port Moody’s Inlet Theatre and Galleria.

This is not a fashion show. This is a multi-media performance where the human body becomes a living, breathing, moving canvas. The presenters have asked artists to go deep into their imaginations to create a wearable piece of art that challenges what most consider to be wearable, or everyday fashion. In fact, many of the pieces would not function on a bus, or at work, or even at a cocktail party, which is what makes them so stunning. They push the boundaries because they don’t need to create something that you can throw in the washing machine and hang in a closet.

The performance starts at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 and at 6:30pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Tickets are $25 each, or you can buy eight tickets and only pay for seven.

To see the pieces up close in a quieter atmosphere you can also check out the exhibit, which runs from February 26 to April 2, 2015 at the Port Moody Arts Centre.
