What: Avenue Q

The skinny:   The Broadway Musical for Adults! Irreverently witty and outright uproarious, Avenue Q is the musical story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate who arrives in New York City looking for love, a job, and his purpose in life. The only neighbourhood he can afford is the multicultural Avenue Q, where Sesame Street-esque puppets rub shoulders with humans. Part felt, part flesh, Avenue Q is packed with songs that are surprisingly poignant and only occasionally PC.

What: Exhibition Opening Reception and Artist Talk
 Thursday, October 30 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, November 1 from 3:00 – 5:00pm
Where:  Leigh Square Community Arts Village, 2253 Leigh Square Place (map)
The skinny:  Leigh Square Community Arts Village celebrates the silent spaces of Port Coquitlam with the exhibit Influx and Exodus. In this exhibit, local Tri-City artists Laara Cerman and Adrian Walker both portray imagery that is beautiful and still, sad and hopeful. The dichotomy of the work inspires both the artist and the viewer to understand the stories behind these still places. The community is invited to the opening reception on Thursday, October 30 at 7pm at Leigh Square. Bring your friends and family, meet the artists and view the art work.  Refreshments will be provided.  For those interested in learning more about Adrian and Laara’s use of digital technology in their art work, they will be providing a free artist talk on the role of digital technology in contemporary art on Saturday, November 1 from 3-5pm at Leigh Square. Preschool Halloween Howl at Pinetree Community Centre (map)| On Friday, October 31 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way) is hosting a Halloween Howl for kids 2 – 5 years old and their caregivers. Gather up your little one and get your costume on for a morning of creepy crafts, spooky games and more! Cost to participate in this Halloween adventure is $5.00 for one caregiver and one child. Pinetree Youth Centre Halloween Party |Youth 11 – 18 years old are encouraged to drop by the Pinetree Youth Centre (1260 Pinetree Way – map) for a Halloween Party on Friday, October 31 from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. There will be pumpkin carving, haunted dodgeball tournaments and zombie face painting. This is a free event, so just drop by!

As a participant at a Community Breakfast Conversation, you will have the opportunity to explore the extent of the resource sector in your community and share your views about the future of resource development. This dialogue is based on a notion we call “Higher Ground,” with a focus on identifying shared values, interests and priorities. What: Fall Fashion Show

The skinny: Our red carpet event for this year is our Fall Charity Fashion Show. You will enjoy a three course dinner while watching local fashions from By Berit Boutique.  Models will be adorned with jewelry from Joye Designs.There is also a special performance from Vancouver Real House Wife Mary Zilba. This is a charity event to help raise money for The Michael Cuccione Foundation.
