What: Stage 43 presents Mama Won’t Fly

The skinny:   An outrageously hilarious race against the clock begins when Savannah Sprunt Fairchild Honeycutt agrees to get her feisty mother all the way from Alabama to California in time for her brother’s wedding. Savannah’s problem: Mama won’t fly. With only four days to make it to the ceremony, this determined daughter has no choice but to drive cross-country with her equally willful mother, Norleen Sprunt, in Mama’s vintage sedan.  This ferociously funny, family-friendly comedy will have you laughing your way across the country and all the way down the aisle! What: Class Act: A Toast to the Twenties

Our 17th Annual A Class Act will be ‘A Toast to the 20s’ – An Evening of Chocolate and Jazz is set for Friday, Oct. 17 at the Coquitlam campus. Guests will sample wines and beers and learn which ones go well with chocolate, they’ll explore the history of chocolate, the agricultural and production process and enjoy a demonstration of truffle-making. What: Paint It Forward

The skinny:   Join Port Moody Arts Centre’s instructors for an evening of wine, beer and laughter as we celebrate life through art. What: Exhibition Opening Reception: Art 4 Life & Princess Monsters

The skinny:   Port Moody Arts Centre presents Art 4 Life, four weeks of art, activities and events geared to children and families. This multimedia exhibition features the work of professional artists, and also includes theatre, sing-alongs and poetry. It is designed to teach, inspire and engage young people. The exhibition also raises opportunities for active participation, discussion, cultural awareness and lessons on art appreciation. The benefits of an arts education affect every area of life and we want it to be a lifelong journey.

What: The Psychedelic Furs & The Lemonheads

The skinny:   The Psychedelic Furs will be returning to the road this fall with The Lemonheads as their special guests. The just announced North American tour will kick off at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Founded by frontman Richard Butler and his bass-wielding brother Tim, The Psychedelic Furs came together in the wake of the explosion of England’s punk rock scene in 1977. The band went on to release such chart-toppers as “Love My Way”, “The Ghost In You”, “Heaven”, “Pretty In Pink”, “Heartbreak Beat”, “All That Money Wants”, “House” and “Until She Comes”. Led by musician Evan Dando, The Lemonheads were formed in Boston in 1986 and achieved mainstream success with several hits including “Into Your Arms”, “If I Could Talk I’d Tell You”, “It’s A Shame About Ray”, “Confetti” and “My Drug Buddy”.
