What:  Girls Night Out | An Evening of Comedy for Women by Women
When:  Friday, October 3 from 6:30 – 9:30pm

The skinny:   Join us for our annual Girls Night Out fundraiser to support the Arts Centre Expansion Project. This fundraising event is specifically tailored to women in the community and presents and evening with some great local comedians featuring MC Erica Sigurdson, Sophie Buddle and Ovarian Sisters, and an opportunity to get together with friends and unwind at the end of the week. Tickets: $45 per ticket or $40 per ticket (groups of 6 or more) includes appetizers, live music, cash bar, fashion & beauty demos.

What: Opening Reception: Leigh Square

The skinny:  Leigh Square Community Arts Village is pleased to present its newest exhibition, A Silent Voice, a retrospective of work by Port Coquitlam artist Colin Craig. An accomplished painter, long time Port Coquitlam resident and exceptional community volunteer, Colin shares his development as an artist over the last forty one years through his large body of landscape paintings that will be shown at Leigh Square.

What: Light the Night Walk
When:  
Saturday, October 4 from 5:30 – 7:15pm
Where:   Rocky Point Park, 2800 Murray Street (map)
The skinny:   On Oct 4th, a Light the Night Walk is being hosted at Rocky Point Park to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The organizers are hosting in memory of Tanya Aspeleiter, who lost her battle with leukemia in April, but are opening it to the public to remember those that we’ve lost to cancer and to those that are fighting the battle against cancer. Nearly half of the cancer drugs developed for blood cancers have been used in the treatment of other cancers and illnesses so money raised at this event is truly beneficial to the fight against cancer.Registration begins at 5:30pm, walk begins at 6:15pm, walk will last approximately an hour.

What: Ioco Ghost Town Day

The skinny: Enjoy a community fair atmosphere with Vintage Cars on tour, The Rebel Haunt Theatre troupe performing through out the event, and plenty to see and participate in! Event is held rain or shine. Cost: Free, donations gratefully accepted!

What: Musical Mornings: Rebecca Wenham (Cello) and Joan Blackman (Violin)
When:
 Wednesday, May 22 from 6:00 – 7:00pm
Where:   Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205 Pinetree Way (map)
The skinny:   Musical Mornings is a series of five salon-type concerts hosted by acclaimed concert pianist and producer Sarah Hagen. The morning begins with coffee, tea, and treats, followed by a seventy-five minute classical concert led by Hagen and featuring world class artists. It’s intimate, it’s casual, it will become one of your favourite morning traditions.
