Pro-D Day Options in the Tri-Cities

Public school started late this year across BC, but hopefully by now most of the kids are settling into the routine. This week – just in time to mess with that routine – there’s a province-wide Pro-D Day on October 24, 2014. If you still haven’t figured out what your kids will be doing that day, never fear. We’ve rounded up a few great options for you.

Kids aged five to ten can enjoy their day off at the Recreation Complex. Children will make crafts, have gym time and
participate in other activities. Kids aged eight to ten can participate in Pro-D Day Home Safe. The day will provide children with
information about safe routes home, basic first aid, dealing with strangers, safety in the house and easy snack ideas. Find more info at

Freaky Friday Pro-D Art Day

Children aged six to twelve can spend a spooky day in the art studio exploring their creative side with Halloween-themed art projects the kids are sure to enjoy. They’ll develop their artistic skills, in a fun creative environment that ignites their imagination. Be sure to pack a lunch and snack, as well as outdoor wear if we decide to chase some ghosts, or perhaps just get a little fresh air. Halloween Art Adventures

Kids aged six to ten can let their ghoulish imaginations soar with a day of spooky art adventures at Leigh Square. Create a mixed media mask for your costume, experiment with oozy, sticky, goop like a mad scientist, make 2D black scratch art, and go on a haunted scavenger hunt. Halloween Howler Day of the Arts

Students from kindergarten to grade five can choose from a number of blocks full of fantastic art, movement, drama and music activities. Small class sizes ensure that students receive quality instruction. Halloween-themed art activities include ‘Mixed-Media
Table-Top Creature’, ‘Monster Mash’ and ‘Spooky Sparkling Spider’s Web’. Some programs are already full so don’t delay if you’d like to sign your children up. Students should bring one healthy, nut-free snack, lunch and a water bottle. Find more info at
