Halloween is just one week away. Today we’re sharing spooky celebrations you’ll want to check out in the run-up to Halloween. Put on the costume, grab a pillowcase, and get ready for some spooktacular fun.

Art Knapp Funland

Last year we told you all about Art Knapp Funland, but it bears repeating because it’s just that great. It’s open daily until November 2, 2014. Funland is held in Art Knapp’s covered outdoor area at the back of the store, and it’s packed with kid-friendly fun. There are free activities, and you can also buy tickets to participate in the pumpkin patch train, rides and entertainment. Braver souls can check out the haunted tunnel ride. Haversely Haunted House

Open daily from 7:00-10:00pm until October 31, 2014, the Haversely Haunted House bills itself as seriously scary. Drop by 1838 Haversley Avenue in Coquitlam and prepare to wet your pants. Entrance is by donation and proceeds will be donated to Variety – The Children’s Charity. With a maze full of animatronics and frightening effects, this haunted house is not for the faint of heart. Halloween Haunted House

If the Haversely Haunted House is a little too much for you stop by Vickie Ayers’ annual Halloween Haunted House for Variety the Children’s Charity nightly until October 31, 2014. It’s open between 6:30 and 9:00pm, rain or shine. This family-friendly event features lots of fun for the kids with candy handouts, interactive toys, scary music, dancing lights, smoke machines, pumpkin patch and graveyards galore. Bring your bottles and cans for her year-long bottle drive. This is a great way to have a little fun and support a good cause at the same time. Vickie’s house is at 443 Draycott Street in Coquitlam. Heritage Halloween at Mackin House

Head to Mackin House in Coquitlam between 1:00 and 3:30pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 for some old-fashioned Halloween fun. Along with traditional Halloween activities, they have a special treat planned for our visitors this year. Their Parlour will be transformed to the stage of a marionette show. Professional marionettist, Beth Agosti, will animate our toy collection’s antique marionettes in two spooktacular shows! For more information visit www.coquitlamheritage.ca.

Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs & Stories

Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs & Stories is an annual favourite, and it happens every year at Place des Arts in coquitlam. Local music teacher, children’s entertainer and Place des Arts’ faculty member Yurgen Ilaender, affectionately known as “Mr. I,” will lead Hallowe’en fun for young children ages two and up on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 3:00–3:50pm. This annual Hallowe’en concert never fails to enchant youngsters and their parents. Costumes are welcome and audience participation is encouraged. CANCELLED: Halloween Spooktacular at Victoria Community Hall

Calling all goblins, ghosts and creatures of the night! On Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 5:30–7:00 pm, Victoria Community Hall in Coquitlam will be transformed for a spooktacular evening full of halloween activities for kids six to twelve years old. There will be Halloween games, pumpkin carving and prizes for the best costume. Hot dogs and light refreshments will be served. Cost to participate is $6.00 per person. Preschool Halloween Howl at Pinetree Community Centre

On Friday, October 31, 2014 from 10:30am– 12:30pm, Pinetree Community Centre in Coquitlam is hosting a Halloween Howl for kids 2 – 5 years old and their caregivers. Gather up your little one and get your costume on for a morning of creepy crafts, spooky games and more! Cost to participate in this Halloween adventure is $5.00 for one caregiver and one child. Pinetree Youth Centre Halloween Party

Youth 11–18 years old are encouraged to drop by the Pinetree Youth Centre in Coquitlam for a Halloween Party on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 6:00–10:00pm. There will be pumpkin carving, haunted dodgeball tournaments and zombie face painting. This is a free event, so just drop by!
