What: Tri Cities Chamber of Commerce Procurement Seminar
When:  Thursday, September 18 from 11:00am – 2:00pm
Where:   Coquitlam City Hall, 3000 Guildford Way, Coquitlam (map)
The skinny:   The Cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody in partnership with the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce will be providing local businesses with a free workshop on the municipal procurement process on Thursday, September 18th. The Chamber has been looking at the issue of local business access to the procurement process and has been engaging the City of Coquitlam to provide an opportunity for local businesses to learn about the City of Coquitlam’s procurement process.

What: Tri-City Greendrinks

The skinny: Speaker Peter Endisch is a local environmental activist and a firm believer in “pay it forward.” He is passionate about the Gift Economy model and is on the journey learning how to shed materialism and be truly part of the “new” economy. He enjoys practicing acts of giving to strangers with his son, and teaching him by example.

What: Gallery Opening Reception: Beyond the Precious
When:  Thursday, September 18 from 6:00 – 8:00pm
Where:   Port Moody Arts Centre, 2425 St. John’s Street (map)
The skinny:   For Beyond the Precious, the Vancouver Metal Arts Association (VMAA) brings together work from no less than twenty jewelry artists and sculptors. The exhibition is intended to reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds, techniques, skills and interests of VMAA members. Their imagery is electric, their methods are varied, and their tools are innovative. They tell stories with precious metals such as sterling silver and gold, and they extend the narrative with non-precious metals such as brass, copper, steel, and nickel. Often they combine other mediums and found materials producing results that are distinct, imaginative, and always cause for reflection.
