  1. This is a great recap – thank you TheV3H.
I would like though to add that the oldest and largest francophone community in BC, Maillardville, is turning 105 years old and we are celebrating this milestone this Sunday.

    On September 14 2014, 12 – 3 pm at Heritage Square, 1116 Brunette Avenue Maillardville-Coquitlam,
Société francophone de Maillardville (SFM) and its community partners are pleased to invite all of you to the “Fête de Maillardville” and Mackin House 105th anniversary celebration. A perfect opportunity for our lively community to get together to celebrate its one-of-a-kind identity.

As part of this very special occasion, we will be joined by many exceptional storytellers such as Norma Charles and have weaving and knitting techniques featured. To continue the traditions and rekindle the spark of the Booth Farm in the 20’s, we will be joined by local growers and artisan producers to form our own Maillardville Farmers’ Market.

And that’s not it! From stimulating mini-golf, the animated “Spin a yarn, share a story” crafts, kids amusements, role play by the Mackin House Museum and storytelling, we have something for everyone.

Come celebrate Maillardville with us and find out why it is quickly becoming a destination of choice in Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities! This celebration is a free family event where we ask that everyone to bring their own picnic. A prize will be awarded to the person who has the best picnic basket!
