Sister Says Music In the Park Port Coquitlam

Getting down to the final weeks of summer. There’s lots of music, an outdoor movie, a little opera, and many great causes to support.

What: Christmas in August Share Food Drive
When: Wednesday, August 20th at 11:00am
Where: Coquitlam RCMP, Guildford Way, Coquitlam
The Skinny: Help local families in need. Drop off non-perishable food items to any RCMP detachment or Community Police Station location by Wednesday, then join them for a BBQ and bake sale. $5 + a food donation gets a burger, chips, and drink. All proceeds benefit the SHARE Community Services Society.

What: British Columbia Regiment Brass Group
When: Wednesday, August 20th at 6:00pm
Where: Rocky Point Park, Port Moody
The Skinny: Come out to Rocky Point and listen to the British Columbia Regiment Brass Group as they play very listenable and often lively music from a variety of genres, including jazz, pop, classical and folk.

What: Shakespeare in the Garden
When: Thursday & Friday, August 21st and 22nd, 7:15pm
Where: Gallery Bistro, Port Moody
The Skinny: Expect Exceptional Theatre Company presents an evening of Sonnets and Soliloquies in the Gallery Bistro’s intimate Patio Garden. Doors open at 7:15pm, performance starts at 8:00pm. Gallery Bistro concession will be open with light fare being served.

What: Zero Mile Diet Workshop

Where: Inspiration Garden, City Centre Park, Coquitlam
The Skinny: Growing veggies isn’t just for the summer. The Inspiration Garden is hosting a Zero Mile Diet workshop on planting for fall and winter. Participants will leave the course with knowledge on what to plant, how to plant it, and how to protect it over the winter.

The Skinny: Sister Says is an original indie-pop duo formed by siblings Gillian and Robert Thomson who also perform as a trio with their guitar player Lonny Eagleton and occasionally play with a drummer. Sister Says’s music is genre-bending singer-songwriter soul, with a raw indie edge.
