Port Moody Day 2014

Port Moody Day 2014

Do you remember how, as 2013 drew to a close, we were expecting an end to Port Moody’s Centennial celebrations? Well, it turns out that even though the city is now 101 years old, they’re retaining many of the events that local residents so enjoyed last year. First, there was the Parade 2.0. Now, this weekend, the picnic is being resurrected and reimagined as Port Moody Day, happening this Saturday, July 26, 2014. Grab your friends, family and neighbours and spend the day at Rocky Point Park enjoying races and games for kids, great entertainment and a free firework extravaganza!

If you’re looking for award-winning, family-friendly music, Charlotte Diamond kicks things off at 2:00pm with a selection of great tunes sure to please parents and kids alike. We’ll also be singing along with the talented folks who’ve made it into the karaoke regional finals, and watching our own local youth talent make their mark.

Kids looking to burn off a little energy can spend the afternoon winning ribbons (and bragging rights) in a number of races and games. Once again, the evening will feature the fabulous ABBA tribute band “ABRA Cadabra” at 8:40pm followed immediately with a stunning fireworks display at 10:10pm. Get there early to grab the best spot!

The celebrations kick off with Waterball at 1:00pm. At 2:00pm the Port Moody Arts Centre craft table and Port Moody Police Department booth will open. The games start at 3:00pm, and roving entertainer Woops-a-Daisy clown starts roving. Other highlights include the tug of war from 7:00-8:20pm and Mayor Clay’s presentation at 7:15pm. Will he be singing, dancing, plate spinning or doing something else altogether? You’ll have to be there to find out.

Happy Port Moody Day!
