Art in the Garden Tour 2014

Art in the Garden Port Moody Arts Centre

Hidden in many yards in and around the Tri-Cities are private edens designed by avid gardeners. They paint with colourful flowers and sculpt in 3D greenery. Very rarely do we get to see them, however, as they’re hidden behind fences and around corners, away from prying eyes. All of that changes with a fabulous event, however, which is happening this weekend. The owners of these personal retreats will be opening their garden gates to welcome the public for the second bi-annual Port Moody Arts Centre’s Art in the Garden Tour on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

This summer event includes ten private gardens, open for self-guided tours, with local artists, artisans and musicians creating amongst the lush greenery. On the same day, a free Art and Garden Fair – held at the Arts Centre grounds from 10:00am to 4:00pm – will feature artisan sales tables, Master Gardeners fielding gardening questions, plant sales and gardening exhibits, specialty food trucks and hand-on activities for all ages. Add to this a photo contest, an open house at the Port Moody Police Community Garden, a floral display and treats at Vivio Flowers Gallery, and landscape and botanical art exhibition at the gallery…and you have a full day of inspirational delights.

Art in the Garden Tour tickets are $20.00 each and are available at the Port Moody Arts Centre. Get yours online at pomoarts.ca, in-person at 2425 St. Johns Street, or by phone at 604.931.2008. When you’re getting your tickets, make sure to check out what else is happening at the Port Moody Arts Centre. They’re a fabulous local resource for residents of all ages who are looking to take a walk on the creative side.
