What:  Music for Mother Nature Night

The skinny:   Welcome to a celebration of all things nature-inspired, an evening of song, music, drumming and comedy brought to you by local artist J. Peachy who says “Every day we hear that nature is at risk, the world is moving very fast and at times it can be too much to bear. However I believe in taking pause, celebrating what we have and expressing as a collective. Music for Mother Nature night is part creative celebration, healing and entertainment, we hope to educate as well as inspire people.” Tickets $15 at the door or online – funds raised for the Burrard Inlet Fish Festival planned for this fall.

The skinny:Port Moody Arts Centre opens a fascinating exhibition this evening, displaying work by photographer Jeff Wislon who has catalogued the famous neon signs characteristic of Vancouver’s past. What:  Tri-City Greendrinks – The Burning Issue: What does Zero Waste look like?

The skinny:   Join a spirited discussion with guest speaker, Port Moody Councillor and Greendrinks co-organizer Rick Glumac as he guides you through the area’s waste handling initiatives and what they mean for the environment.

What: Port Moody Parade Day
When:Saturday, June 21 from 11:00am – 1:00pm
Where: from City Hall to Rocky Point Park (for the parade route see here)
The skinny: Everybody loves a parade, and in Port Moody this means bringing back the past and as recently as last year’s Centennial event in style. Floats will be processing from City Hall to Rocky Point in slow and stately progress as their performers whoop it up big time for the crowd.

  • In addition to the mobile entertainment, don’t miss the Port Moody Legion’s 15th Annual Show and Shine taking place at 2513 Clarke Street (map) between 8:00am and 4:00pm, with more events into the evening. During the day, don’t miss the BBQ, Golden Spike Can Can Dancers and music.
  • Port Moody Station Museum is celebrating National Aboriginal Day between 12:00 and 3:00pm, with a salmon BBQ and entertainment.
