Creating a Community Gathering Place

Gallery Bistro Port Moody

Last year we told you that Port Moody’s Gallery Bistro was under new ownership. After a year in the capable hands of Rainer and Helen Daniels, the cafe and gallery has undergone something of a renaissance. It closed for several months last year to undergo an extensive renovation process. The gallery was re-opened after being closed under the previous owner, and the space has played host to a number of events.

“Gallery Bistro has been a venue for a pop-up theatre event, an artists’ Christmas office party, workshops and meeting space for the arts. We also started a small French conversation group that meets each week – it’s called Chez Hélène after a CBC TV show of that name that was part of my French class in grade five. We were happy also to have been chosen as the place to celebrate special birthdays – from a first birthday to a 99th birthday,” Helen Daniels shares.

On top of all that, of course, the Gallery Bistro is just a great place to eat. The soups and sandwiches they’re known for haven’t changed, and they keep people coming back.

There are a number of events coming up at Gallery Bistro in the near future. Make note of them, and drop by for a heaping helping of food and community.
