With BC gearing up to celebrate its second Family Day on February 10, 2013, you may be wondering what to do with your own family here in the Tri-Cities. Never fear, there’s plenty of family fun to be had right here in our own backyard. Here are just a few suggestions to check out.

Family Day Workshops at Evergreen Cultural Centre

The new Family Days workshops at the Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre are a great introduction to critical thinking and creative expression. Tour the current exhibition Emerging Talent 17 to see amazing art by local youth. Then take your inspiration and create artwork in the family-themed workshop. Admission is by donation.

Family Day Open House at the Port Moody Arts Centre

Lots of fun with interactive arts & crafts, demonstrations and exhibits by our award winning instructors, tours of our visual arts, ceramics and music studios, door prizes, and a ‘drawing jam’ where you can discover your inner artist! If you register for upcoming classes at the front desk during the open house, you get $10 off (excludes music payments). Admission is free.

Family Day Swim in Coquitlam

Bring the whole family to City Centre Aquatic Complex or Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and enjoy a swim. Admission is $2.00 all day.

Family Day Fit ‘N’ Frolic Fun Run/Walk

Gather the family and head to Spirit Square in Coquitlam. Then, get your heart pumping with this 5 kilometer fun run/walk through Hoy Creek Trail and Town Centre Park. Dress up in red or pink to support Heart Month or bright colors — no winter blues allowed! There will be kids activities along the route. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Meet at Spirit Square after the run for refreshments, fun activities and face painting. Admission is $5.00.

Family Day…All Aboard!

Join the Port Moody Station Museum and create family history moments. Celebrate your “Family Day” by hammering your message in metal and affixing it to our railroad tie. Then get started on your “family tree” with the Station Museum template as your guide. Admission is $10.00 per family.

Port Moody Family Day Skate Event

There’s lots of family fun at the Port Moody Arena on Family Day. Admission is $3.50 per person, and includes family skate, a bouncy castle, Gizmo the Clown balloon art and magic show, face painting and free refreshments.
