What: The Skeleton Key

Where:  Inlet Theatre, Port Moody Civic Centre, 100 Newport Drive (map)
The skinny:  Port Moody Film Society presents The Skeleton Key, a supernatural thriller set in the Lousiana bayous. Deadly secret, decrepit attic, suspense – please note, there’s not enough room under the Inlet Theatre’s seats so bring your own cushion to hide behind or wear running-away-fast trousers. Tickets are available after 6.45pm on the night ($5 membership; $5 per film).

What: The Fugitives

The skinny:   Dancing trousers, I think for this one. Vancouver indie folk collective with “a rotating cast of multi-talented instrumentalists” to make your head spin and toes tap. Tickets $30; $25; $15 (or only $15 if you take the songwriting workshop before the show).

What: PoCo’s Ultimate Wine Night
 Saturday, October 12 from 7:00 – 9:00pm
Where: Wilson Centre, 2150 Wilson Avenue, Port Coquitlam (map)
The skinny: A kilt would be good for this event. Join West Coast Wine Education in support of Port Coquitlam Rotary in this everyday wine tasting and education event. Local businesses supply the nibbles; more than 10 wineries supply the bottles. Tickets are $45.

The skinny:   Striped coveralls and a whistle please. Visit the GVGRC installation to see how members build an indoor railway track to celebrate The Centennial. Admission free.
