What: PoCoMo Youth Services: An Evening of Inspiration

What: Craig Ferguson – Hot and Grumpy

The skinny:   According to the very nice man I chatted with in a coffee shop last week, Craig Ferguson is someone to go and see. Host of a late (late) show, dragon-fighter trainer, and a person of indeterminate gender – I think you’ll have a good evening. He’s Scottish, but don’t let his Glaswegian roots put you off. What: Port Moody Rock and Gem Club Annual Show
When:  Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27 from 10:00am – 5:00pm
Where: Kyle Centre, Port Moody (map)
The skinny: Enjoy two days of rocky fun with your local rock and gem club’s annual show. Featuring the local rockscape and fossils from the area, the club celebrates its own 35-year anniversary and the city’s centennial by showing that much older forces have been at work shaping the locale. What: Heritage Halloween at Mackin House Museum

The skinny: Heritage and old timey boo and frights for you this afternoon. If you plan it right, you can ‘do’ Halloween in various guises this Saturday. Mackin House serves up the nostalgia scare stuff. Admission free.

What: L’Halloween Fantomatique

The skinny: Scaredy stuff in the other official language, with activities for kids 2-8 years old.

What: Halloween Howl Family Fun
 Saturday, October 26 from 3:00 – 6:00pm
Where: 1379 Laurier Avenue, Port Coquitlam (map)
The skinny: As the event details say, “come dressed in costume for some fun” so … swim, enjoy the carnival and haunted house, or brave the even scarier haunted house. Costume suggestions include Nemo, the Phantom of the Deep or the Little Mermaid. Admission to each of the above is $2, $3 and $1 or get a wristband pass for all three attractions for $5 (only available for sale from Hyde Creek Rec till October 24).

The skinny:   No Boo! – just farce (pure and simple). Set in the ‘60s, which if you remember you probably weren’t there apparently, Camoletti’s Boeing Boeing  is a heady faster moving romantic comedy pitching one man’s dubious lifestyle choices and misogyny against the speedier world of international jet travel. What: Play and Learn

The skinny: Play … and learn. This is a free program for storytimes, songs and crafts with your friendly local library outreach, so just drop in with your family to event central in front of the Bay on the lower level.
