Training the “Funtrepreneurs” of Tomorrow

Business Leaders of Tomorrow Port Coquitlam

Have you ever wished that you had a chance to gain business skills when you were younger, so that you’d be better positioned to be your own boss as an adult? What if you could give your kids the gift of learning about concepts like leadership, teamwork, marketing and creating a business plan? An upcoming event may be just the ticket if you have a budding entrepreneur on your hands, or you’d like to give your children the chance to learn skills now so they can follow their dreams in the future.

Kayla D’Antonio and Jade Wong are students at Capilano University and Simon Fraser University, respectively. These two friends are building a program they call Business Leaders of Tomorrow, dedicated to teaching children the basic fundamentals of business, and inspiring them to follow their career dreams in the future. They’re coming to the Tri-Cities this November to reach out to kids aged 10-14.

On November 9, 2013 they are hosting a workshop at Hyde Creek Recreation Complex in Port Coquitlam from 11:00am-4:00pm. They’re calling it “Funtrepreneurship Day”, and it offers a chance for kids to create their own business. There will be fun opportunities for kids to practice their public speaking, and activities to develop their teamwork and leadership skills. Kids will participate in sessions on business development, market research and pitching, among other things.

Registration is just $15, and it includes lunch and snacks. To find out more about the day, or to sign up, head to www.businessleadersoftomorrow.ca/funtrepreneurship-day.html or call 778.232.0775.

If November 9 doesn’t work for you stay tuned, because Kayla and Jade are also planning Spring Break and summer camps, as well as other workshops and events, for the “funtrepreneurs” of tomorrow. You can follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BusinessLeadersOfTomorrow to stay in the loop.
