New Piano Teacher Joining Place des Arts

Monica Pfau Piano Teacher Place Des Arts Coquitlam

If you’re looking for a piano teacher to help your child start on their musical journey, or you’d like to brush up on some rusty skills, you’ll want to know more about Monica Pfau. This accomplished pianist and piano teacher recently joined the ranks of teachers at Place des Arts in Coquitlam, where she’ll be teaching private piano and theory to students of all ages and abilities.

While Monica may be new to Place des Arts, she’s not new to the world of piano teaching. With over 20 years of experience, Monica has taught young beginners and advanced university-entry pianists alike. In fact, several of her students have gone on to study at prestigious music schools like McGill, the University of Victoria and Indiana University.

When asked to describe her teaching style, Monica says, “I strive to help each individual student achieve his or her personal musical goals, whether those be preparing for an upcoming examination or audition, or simply in improving overall musical skills. I feel that it is of the greatest importance for a teacher to share his or her own enjoyment of music itself in the course of each lesson and always to build on the positive aspects of a student’s skills, while working towards improvements in other areas.”

Monica is also an accomplished pianist in her own right, having performed throughout North America and Europe as a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician and orchestral player. In fact, she has performed in many faculty concerts over the years at Place des Arts. You may recall the “Celebration of Czech Music” series she presented along with her husband Roger Mangas. Monica has also recorded for the CBC Vancouver Orchestra under Mario Bernardi, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra under Kazuyoshi Akiyma, the National Film Board of Canada and has been a frequent performer on CBC Radio’s Westcoast Performance.

Place des Arts offers private music lessons for students of all levels and abilities, from the beginner to the advanced and from the very young to the very old, in a variety of instruments, styles and genres.
