Culture Days in the Tri-Cities

Culture Days 2013

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture that has happened each September since 2009. The purpose behind this celebration is to connect Canadians with opportunities to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of arts and culture. Over three days, hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in hundreds of cities and towns come together and invite everyone to participate in free interactive and behind-the-scenes activities to discover their cultural spirit and passion.

The truth is that there are lots of ways for us to get involved in arts and culture all year long, but we may miss them. By participating in Culture Days we can connect with resources right here in our own back yard. This year, it’s happening from September 27 – 29, 2013. In the Tri-Cities, Evergreen Cultural Centre, Leigh Square Community Arts Village, Place des Arts and Port Moody Arts Centre team up each year to present community exhibitions and programming under the joint heading Arts in the Tri-Cities: Crossing Boundaries. All activities are free and open to the public as part of Culture Days.

This year, Evergreen, Leigh Square and Place des Arts are collaboratively exploring the theme of digital art and literature. Along with the many programs, performances and exhibitions, the three groups wanted to create an additional link between the distinct cities and arts centres involved via live video streaming between each organization. No matter where you’re located, you can watch and interact with all events at the different sites. You can also access the live video streaming from home at evergreenculturalcentre.ca.
