Escape the V3H for Maple Ridge Weekends

Maple Ridge Weekends explore our backyard bucket list contest

You don’t have to tell us that summer in the Tri-Cities has a lot going for it. Whether you’re lounging on the shores of Buntzen Lake, taking in the views in Belcarra Park, eating ice cream at Rocky Point, or splashing at a local spray park, there are no shortage of ways to beat the heat. At the same time, sometimes it’s fun to mix things up a little. If you’re willing to take a short drive, there are lots of fun things happening in Maple Ridge this summer as well. In fact, they’re encouraging you to take a weekend day trip, with Maple Ridge Weekends.

This weekend you can take in the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Country Fest at the Albion Fairgrounds, or see Macbeth at Bard on the Bandstand at Memorial Peace Park. If you’d like something a little more high-brow head to Golden Ears Cheese Crafters on July 31, 2013 for an elegant high tea. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the birth of our future king. For something a little different check out the Rotary Duck Race in Alouette River at Maple Ridge Park on August 4, 2013.

One of the things our family loves to do in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows is check out where our food comes from. We’ve already mentioned Golden Ears Cheese Crafters, but some of our other favourite haunts are Hopcott Farms and Honeyland in Pitt Meadows. Local favourite Meadows Maze also opens for the season on August 17, 2013. If you have kids, this one is a must-see, with train rides, a petting zoo and of course a corn maze.

You can also head outside for some golf at Golden Eagle, Meadow Gardens or Swan-E-Set. If you’d rather have a real “in the country” experience, you can take a trail ride at Equutrails or Leghorn Ranch. And, while Coquitlam voted down an adventure park in Mundy Park, Maple Ridge has one with WildPlay.

Details about all of this fun is available online at www.mapleridgeweekends.com.
