Cinema Under the Stars 2013

Outdoor Movies 2013 Port Coquitlam

We’ve had a lovely run of warm, dry weather so far this summer in the Tri-Cities. One great way to take advantage of the season is to head outside to take in a free outdoor movie. Once again, Port Coquitlam has got you covered with Cinema Under the Stars.

The free Friday night movie fun kicked off on July 12, 2013 with Hotel Transylvania. If you missed it, don’t despair. There are three move chances to take in a film this summer. The gigantic 26 foot tall silver screen will be travelling around PoCo. Pack a picnic basket, bring a blanket, and round up your friends and family. Start a new summer tradition, or continue one that you established last year. Upcoming dates and locations for 2013 movies are:

  • July 26, 2013, 9:00pm at Sun Valley – Wreck It Ralph
  • August 9, 2013, 8:30pm at Gates Park – The Amazing Spiderman (2012)
  • August 23, 2013, 8:30pm at Gates Park – Skyfall

In the event of rain, the film showing will be moved to the following Friday. This means that if the weather doesn’t cooperate, you don’t have to miss out, and you don’t have to get wet. To stay in the loop, check out the Leigh Square Facebook page, where status updates will be posted. They’ll let you know if a movie has been rained out, or if a planned film is switched for another. You can also visit www.portcoquitlam.ca/leighsquare or call 604.927.8400 for show info.

Not all of the films are appropriate for small children, so be sure to check out some online reviews before you pack up your little ones if you’re not sure about a particular feature. Cinema Under the Stars is supposed to be fun, not nightmare-inducing, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t plan ahead!
