Summer Sunday Concerts Port Moody 2013

Summer is on its way to the Tri-Cities, and we’re ready to get outside – even musicians and performing artists. If the idea of setting up your blanket in a local park, unpacking an picnic lunch and listening to some great music sounds like your idea of a great time, we have some events for you. This summer in the Tri-Cities you’ll find a number of all ages FREE outdoor concerts, and they’re starting up soon.

Village Vibe

Every Saturday afternoon in July and August, the outdoor stage at Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam will be taken over by Village Vibe from 2:00-4:00pm. You’ll see emerging dancers and musicians performing for all ages, rain or shine. Here’s what’s on the agenda:

Move to the Beat!
Dancers set the stage on fire with electrifying performances featuring hip hop, flamenco, bellydance, latin, jazz and more!

Douglas Fraser, The Honeyflowers
Douglas Fraser’s skills as a musicologist delight audiences with stories of the evolution of jazz from 1840 to 1940. The Honeyflowers is the original country/blues/roots duo of Betty Berda and Shelley Stevens.

Johnny Gallant, Nice Verdes
Johnny Gallant is a crooning singer/song writer who explores music through the inspirations of legends such as Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Elvis Presley. Nice Verdes are an acoustic duo playing sunny and uplifting original and world music.

Family Festival Day @ Leigh Square Featuring Bobs & Lolo
Running from 1:00-4:00pm instead of 2:00-4:00pm, you’re invited to clebrate Port Coquitlam’s Centennial Homecoming Weekend with a Family Festival Day at Leigh Square. It features live entertainment headlined by Bobs & Lolo, theatre, magicians, arts and crafts, face painting and more! As well, Second Storey Theatre brings you their improv talent on stage with hilarious skits and roving puppets.

Crossroads Showcase features an eclectic mix of artists from the popular Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse nights. Tommy Alto is an indie rock/alternative pop artist whose sound is described as “The Smiths meets Tokyo Police Club”.

Music in the Park

Port Coquitlam also has free music in Lions Park every Sunday in July and August from 2:00-4:00pm. You’ll hear the finest professional musicians from across Metro Vancouver playing a variety of genres including jazz, pop, rock, blues, folk, world fusion, and contemporary, performing for all ages.
