Celebrating Success with the Coquitlam Foundation

Coquitlam Foundation Awards

Worthy individuals and organizations will be receiving scholarships, bursaries and grants to the record-breaking tune of $116,000 when the Coquitlam Foundation will be celebrates its annual Awards Night on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre. The event caps off a very successful year of community philanthropy for the group, and the public is invited to attend. The evening starts off with a reception in the lobby of the Evergreen Cultural Centre at 6:30pm and follows with presentations and entertainment in the theatre. Among the entertainers will be fiddler Jesse Kazemir.

The foundation will also be celebrating the fact that, together with its partners, it has established four new donor-advised funds over the past year:

  • The Michael Coss Brain Injury Fund
  • The Steps Together Fund
  • The Trevor Wingrove Bursary Fund
  • The Wesbild LIFT

“What an amazing year it has been,” says the foundation’s chair, Julie Fisher. “We celebrated our 20th anniversary in 2012 by recommitting ourselves to our mission to encourage and support creative, targeted philanthropy that builds a vibrant, sustainable, and healthy community. The success we have enjoyed over the past 12 months certainly suggests that we are fulfilling that mission.

The Coquitlam Foundation manages a portfolio worth $2.37 million, with 20 donor-advised and nine foundation-directed funds. Last year, the foundation distributed more than $90,000 in grants, scholarships and bursaries.
