What:  April Exhibition: Opening Reception

The skinny:  Please join Place des Arts for the opening reception of two new exhibitions: Seeds, ceramic arts by Vin Arora and Lost and Found, mixed media by Shari Pratt. All are welcome to drop by and view the artworks and speak to the artists! 7:15 – Opening Remarks 7:20 – Artist Talk with Vin Arora 7:40 – Artist Talk with Shari Pratt.  This is also a public weaving session for Place des Arts’ Social Fabric Project, a collaborative community project celebrating Place des Arts’ 40th anniversary.  Fine art, inspiration and a glass of wine… the perfect way to spend an evening! What:  Friends of Coquitlam Public Library 10th Annual Quiz Night
When:  Friday, April 5 from 7:30-9:30pm
Where:  Coquitlam Public Library City Centre Branch, 1169 Pinetree Way (map)
The skinny:  If your brain is bursting with knowledge of geography, history, current events, literature, and other trivia, show off your skills at the Friends of Coquitlam Public Library Society’s Quiz Night. Participate in teams of eight—either form a group with seven friends or sign up individually and we will place you with a team. Proceeds support literacy projects for children and adults living in Coquitlam, and the City’s new library. Doors open at 6:45 and the quiz starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are $25.00 each and include coffee, dessert, and a chance to win draw prizes.

What:  Workshop: Art of the Doll

The skinny:  The art of free-form doll making is a wonderful way to open up your imagination and create a unique art piece. Techniques taught include wrapping, knotting, gluing and/or sewing the dolls together. What:  Explore the Great Outdoors Kickoff

The skinny:  Join the City of Coquitlam at Spirit Square (across from City Hall) as they kick off spring and our chance to get outdoors! Try your hand at rock climbing, fishing, bike maintenance and learn about Coquitlam’s parks and trails from local experts. Stay for light refreshments and explore the outdoors. This free event will have fun activities for all ages!

What:  Port Moody Winter Farmers Market

The skinny:  The Port Moody Winter Farmers Market is a market bursting with fresh local produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and beautiful artisan crafts. There is a great line up of new vendors, offering a variety of prepared foods, produce, and craft items. Of course your favorites from the summer markets will be here as well. Be sure to come by the market for some delicious lunch selections from participating food vendors. This is the second last day of the market this season, with the final one being held on April 21st.
