Easter Egg Hunts in the Tri-Cities: 2013 Edition

Easter Coquitlam Port Coquitlam Port Moody 2013

Easter is less than two weeks away. With the big day coming up on March 31, 2013, thoughts are turning to bunnies and chocolate and fancy hats and, of course, Easter egg hunts. If you want to celebrate Easter here in the Tri-Cities, we have rounded up a few ideas that will make your holiday extra-festive.

Port Moody Station Museum

The museum’s Easter Extravaganza is a local favourite, and for good reason. The event runs on Sunday, March 31, 2013 from 10:00am-2:00pm. Meet the Easter Bunny and make your own Easter basket, then hunt for marbles to exchange for chocolate eggs. And don’t worry – the marbles are replenished all day, so your Easter egg hunters will have just as much chance of finding one at 1:30pm as at 10:00am. Watch performances by local magician Dennis Hewson, juggler Yuki Ueda and Paws 2 Dance dancing dogs. Take your chances at a carnival game and get your face painted. The hunt is on rain or shine, and ddmission is $5 per person with proceeds going to the Port Moody Heritage Society. For more information, email info@portmoodymuseum.org or call 604.939.1648.

Mackin House

What’s Easter without an Easter bonnet? You won’t have to find out if you head to Mackin House on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 1:00-3:30pm. They’re holding Holy Fascinator, and event that invites you to re-interpret your Easter bonnet with a handcrafted fascinator. Ilona Marshall will show you how it is done. All supplies are provided, admission is by donation and registration is required. Call the museum at 604.516.6151 or email info@coquitlamheritage.ca to get in on the action.

Burke Mountain

The Burke Mountain community is holding its third annual Easter egg hunt on Friday, March 29, 2013 on the Green Street (Watkins Avenue). Registration is at 10:00am, and the hunt starts at 10:30am, rain or shine. Participation is by donation, with a minimum of $5 per family. Remember to bring your own Easter basket, and keep your eye out for the Easter Bunny, because we hear he’s making a special appearance.

Leigh Square Community Arts Village

Hop on over to Leigh Square for the third annual Easter Arts Celebration for families on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 1:00-3:00pm. The event features Easter egg decorating, egg hunt, arts and crafts, storytelling, entertainment and much more. Take a break in the Play Room filled with legos, puzzles and play tents. Become a bunny for the day with face painting and bunny ear crafts. Hunt for hidden Easter eggs before watching performers from Port Coquitlam’s Second Storey Theatre. The event is $10 per child, and is open to children 10 and under. Pre-register online at www.experienceit.ca or by calling 604.927.7529.
