Bonjour everyone!  Celebrate with our  Francophone neighbours this weekend at Festival Du Bois.  There are also special events this week celebrating Port Moody’s Centennial, a PST Seminar for business owners and a fundraising concert at Evergreen Cultural Centre. What:  PST Seminar presented by the Ministry of Finance

What:  Opening Reception: Place des Arts and Festival du Bois Exhibition
When:  Thursday, February 28 from 7:00-9:00pm

The skinny:  Place des Arts in collaboration with Societé Francophone de Maillardville present master dyer and textile artist Joanne Plourde’s textiles exhibition The Voyageurs Epic: Perseverance. Ms. Plourde will also lead a demonstration in textile painting with dyes during Festival du Bois on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, 2012 from 1-4pm at Place des Arts. All are welcome to attend the free opening reception to tour the exhibition and hear the artist discuss her process and inspiration on Feb 28. Exhibition runs from February 28 – March 16.

What:  Genticorum – Sunday Coffee Concert Series *Special Friday Event*

The skinny:  In partnership with Festival Du Bois, this is a special Friday night presentation of the Sunday Coffee Concert Series to mark the City’s centennial year, featuring music from Quebec.  Known for their genuine energy and stage presence, Genticorum has given more than 800 concerts in no fewer than 15 countries. They weave together precise and intricate fiddle and flute work, gorgeous vocal harmonies, energetic foot percussion and guitar and bass accompaniment into a big and jubilant musical feast. What:  Festival Du Bois

The skinny:  Festival du Bois offers a world-class musical event. This celebration is affordable to all members of the community! Visitors can walk in the park and explore Maillardville and its history, watch ice sculptors in action, participate in fun activities, shop and enjoy delicious food like pie, taffy, poutine and other dishes. Under the Grand Chapiteau roof, children can attend popular workshops, concerts and dance performances. What:  Port Moody’s Inlet Skating Club presents Happy Birthday Port Moody: Celebratiing 100 Years of the City of the Arts

The skinny:  Port Moody’s Inlet Skating Club presents a skating show that will trace the history of Port Moody through music and stories. Members of the Inlet Skating Club will be skating to popular music from the past 100 years. The skinny:  A Fundraiser for the Stroke Recovery Association of BC, Raising Change is an exciting new group of musicians who are solo artists of critical acclaim coming together to raise the bar for each other with a new spirited musical collaboration. What:  Musical Mornings with Sarah Hagen & Guests
