What:  Blackberry Artist’s Society’s Annual Christmas Marketplace
When:  November 15 – December 22, Monday-Friday from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm

The skinny: The Blackberry Artist’s Society’s Christmas Marketplace will be ending this Saturday so stop in for those Christmas gifts before then! The artists in this local cooperative have been working hard in their art studios, making one-of-a-kind gifts to appeal to those shoppers who need something original and affordable.  Any gift you buy through the gift shop will be HST free!

What:  Christmas Boutique 2012
When:  November 13 – December 21, Monday-Friday from 9am-9pm

The skinny:  The last few days of the Christmas Boutique is happening this week, with Friday being your final opportunity to shop for some unique gifts!  Place des Arts’ Artisan Shop expands into a fine craft market, offering holiday shoppers a veritable Aladdin’s cave of glittering bobbles and delightful seasonal gifts, the perfect place to find alternatives to mass-produced goods shipped from across the globe.  When you do your holiday shopping at the Christmas Boutique, you also help support local artists, with the added bonus of reducing your carbon footprint and knowing the gifts you give have been ethically produced.

What:  The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Tuesday to Saturday, December 18-22 with matinee and evening performances

Evergreen presents Pacific Theatre’s adaptation of THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE by C. S. Lewis. This splendidly theatrical invention preserves all the magic of the twentieth century’s best-loved fantasy classic. Four young adventurers pass through a doorway to a land in the grip of an icy queen, where it’s always winter and never Christmas. 20 years after the adventure ended, Peter and Lucy have made their way back to the room where it all began only to discover that there is still magic lingering. Tickets: $39, $30, $15

What:  Celebrate the Season
When:  Thursday, December 20 from 6:30-7:30pm
Where:  Inlet Theatre & Galleria, 100 Newport Drive (map)
The skinny:  The stockings are hung, the shopping and baking are all done…it’s time to Celebrate the Season with your friends and neighbours at the Port Moody Public Library! There will be traditional carols, heart-warming holiday stories, and a visit with a very special guest. All ages are welcome at this free family event. Come a bit early to ensure a good seat, especially if you have a larger family group. Our friendly staff and Board of Trustees will be on hand with refreshments. Be green, and bring your own travel mugs for hot chocolate. Donations of non-perishable foods for the SHARE food bank are greatly appreciated.

What:  Winter Solstice Lantern Celebration
When:  Friday, December 21 from 5:45-7:45pm
Where:  Rocky Point Park, 2800 Block Murray Street (map)
The skinny:  If you don’t already have a lantern,you can stop in at the Lantern Making Workshop beforehand from 2pm to 5pm at the Klahanie Canoe Club, 501 Klahanie Drive.  The Lantern Procession and Potluck starts at 6:30pm at Rocky Point Park. Wear SPARKLE to welcome the sun or bring HOLIDAY GREENS to put at the Solstice alter. For the potluck, please include a paper with ingredient listing & an extra bag in case you need to take home leftovers.  Bring your own mug & Cutlery, your musical instrument, hula hoop, chairs, blanket to keep warm, camera, glowsticks.  Amazing community Event- Admission is by donation.
