Christmas Boutique Place Des Arts Coquitlam

How do you know it’s November in the Tri-Cities?  The rain is here, the salmon are returning home and Christmas is in the air.  Christmas?!  Isn’t that December?  I know, it seems too early but it’s less than 6 weeks away and no time like now to start that Christmas shopping.  Port Moody’s Christmas Marketplace and Coquitlam’s Christmas Boutique are having their grand openings.  For a unique “adults only” shopping experience at Coquitlam Centre, check out their “Unwrapped” event.  Or if you’re feeling a little “Bah Humbug” there are plenty of other great events happening in the Tri-Cities this week to make you feel like you’re still in November.

What:  Opening Reception: Art Exhibits & Blackberry Artist’s Society’s Annual Christmas Marketplace
When:  Thursday, November 15 from 6:00-8:00pm
Where:  Port Moody Arts Centre, 2425 St. Johns Street [map]
The skinny: Join the Blackberry Artist’s Society for the Opening Reception of their Christmas Marketplace where many of their 25 artists will be in attendance.  The artists in this local cooperative have been working hard in their art studios, making one-of-a-kind gifts to appeal to those shoppers who need something original and affordable.
This Opening Reception also includes Port Moody Arts Centre’s new exhibits, “Cotton Candy Friends”, drawing and paintings by Shari Pratt and “Places I Want to Be”, paintings by Maxine Wolodko.  Members of the Port Moody Arts Centre Society have also created 6×6 pieces of artwork that will be part of a silent auction.
This exhibit and the Christmas Marketplace runs from November 15 to December 22.

What:  Brighten Up!

The skinny: Place des Arts, Mackin House and Fraser Mills Station Museum are brightening up the dark days of autumn with a seasonal celebration of arts and heritage with a variety of activities taking place at Carré Heritage Square throughout November and December.

Thursday, November 15 from 7:00-9:00pm:  Gala Opening of the Christmas Boutique and Positively Petite – view exquisite miniature artworks in a variety of 2D and 3D media by a multitude of talented artists plus seasonal artisan wares by local crafters. What:  Art Focus Artists’ Association Fall Art Show & Sale

The skinny:  Art Focus Artists’ Association is having its 19th Annual Art Show and Sale. What:  9th Annual Photomotion

What:  Port Moody Winter Farmers Market

The skinny:  The Port Moody Winter Farmers Market is held every second Sunday until April 21, 2013.  It is a market bursting with fresh local produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and beautiful artisan crafts.  There is a great line up of new vendors, offering a variety of prepared foods, produce, and craft items. Of course your favorites from the summer markets will be here as well. What:  Hyde Creek Salmon Festival

The skinny:  Celebrate the salmon as they return to their spawning grounds. The Hyde Creek Watershed Society, in partnership with the City of Port Coquitlam, hosts their Annual Hyde Creek Salmon Festival.
