Help SHARE Out Over the Holidays

Share Society Christmas 2013

The SHARE Society provides family and community services to the whole Tri-Cities. Their programs meet a wide range of needs, from English practice groups, to parent and tot drop-ins, to addiction services, to the food bank. At this time of year, they are working overtime to make sure that everyone has a happy holiday. With your help, they will provide 1800 Christmas hampers to local families this year. They’re also expecting 2215 children and youth to receive their Christmas toys through their Christmas program this year.

SHARE’s 2012 Holiday Wish List

Here’s what SHARE is hoping for this holiday season:

  • Toys – If there’s an age group that we really want to have a happy holiday season, it’s our children. For some toy ideas, see SHARE’s holiday toy shop wish list. Drop-off locations are available online.
  • Food – They’re looking for thousands of cans, jars and packages of non-perishable food. Your donation can be dropped off at the SHARE building, at any local grocery store, and at many local holiday events. To find out what items are most urgently needed, see their holiday hamper wish list.
  • Caring Neighbours – Through Caring Neighbours, local groups provide a family with food hamper and a toy for each child, if the family has children.

SHARE Holiday Events

SHARE is running a variety of holiday fundraising events. Here are some upcoming highlights:

  • Mr. Mike’s Toy Drive – If you bring a new, unwrapped toy to Mr. Mike’s for SHARE’s toy hamper program you’ll receive a free appetizer. November 26 – December 24, 2012

  • 2012 CP Holiday Train – The CP Holiday Train rolls into Port Moody once again, bringing a whole lot of family fun, food and entertainment. The event is free, but there is food available by donation to SHARE. Bring your non-perishable food items and cash donations as well. December 18, 2012, 8:00pm, On the tracks behind the Port Moody Recreation Complex at 300 Ioco Road

The holidays don’t last forever – but the need does. So as you give to help the less fortunate in our community over the holidays, think about what you can do to support SHARE in its work all year long. Whether volunteering, donating, or shopping in their thrift store, they need your support to offer support to our community.
