Christmas in Leigh Square and Winter Artisans Fair 2012

Christmas Leigh Square Port Coquitlam

Over the past few years Port Coquitlam’s annual Christmas in Leigh Square event has become a holiday favourite. This year they’re holding the event a week early, to coincide with another local favourite, the Winter Market and Artisan Fair.

Christmas in Leigh Square

Christmas in Leigh Square happens no matter the weather, so dress appropriately. It takes place on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at (… wait for it …) Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam. Highlights of the day include:

  • Holiday ornament making
  • Hot chocolate and treats outdoors from 3:30-5:00pm
  • Lighting ceremony at the bandshell at 4:30pm
  • A visit from Santa

The event is free, but donations will be accepted for SHARE’s holiday toy and food drive.

Winter Market and Artisans Fair

The Winter Market and Artisans Fair runs on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 11:00am-6:00pm, and Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 12:00-4:00pm in the Leigh Square Community Arts Village. In its fifth year, this free event invites you to support local artists and artisans as you shop for affordable, quality art, fine handcrafts and edibles. Bring the whole family to enjoy arts, crafts, live music by local emerging musicians and yummy treats. As a bonus, admission to the fair is entirely free, unlike many of the holiday craft fairs around Metro Vancouver.

The holiday season is the perfect time to take in a special event, meet your neighbours and find some truly unique and one-of-a-kind gift items made by someone who lives in your own community. Christmas in Leigh Square and the Winter Artisans Fair offer you a great opportunity to do just that. Now let’s cross our fingers, and hope the weather cooperates!
